What do you mean by 'not getting the whole picture'.
You should be viewing in 'WIDE' mode and if the film is in WS it will auto switch to wide. Don't forget films over the years are made in all sorts of different aspect ratios so it could be in 4:3, 2.35:1 etc. In which case you TV should switch to 4:3 or show narrow black borders top & bottom. Remember most of the films shown on Sky were made for the cinema and NOT TV....be it a 4:3 TV or a 16:9 TV. |

The correct setting is 16:9.
Anything else for widescreen is bogus on a TV. You should then see 4:3 programmes when they are transmitted in that aspect ratio, and 16:9, ie TV widescreen, when it is available. DVDs should generally be WS but not necessaily 16:9 which might correctly cause a small black area at the top and bottom of the screen. |
