Just watching some of the performances from last night on youtube...

Melanie was incredible!

Aww why would Drew drop her last name? I liked Ryniewicz being announced. Oh well... still hoping she wins, she's absolutely amazing.

I'd have gotten rid of Rachel and kept Tiah... Rachel is obviously the better singer but Tiah could've delivered some really interesting edgy performances.

Astro was the performance of the night for me though!

I agree with this, actually. All decisions were correct but I loved Tiah's performance!! Should've swapped Tiah with Rachel.

Melanie is the one to beat in my opinion.

Despite your opinion, the crowd, the judges and many others LOVED him. When it comes to RAP - the kid is way beyond his years.

i will be absolutely fair and not deny that he is good in his area of expertise which is rapping.
for a matter of fact, Philip Lomax can record albums and sell it but i dont see it for him.
This is just my own opinion which i stand by it strongly, given the comprehension skills of some people here, read that i recognise that he is a good rapper but im just saying my own opinion that he wont be as successful in selling records and etc as compared to philip lomax (much more pleasing to the eye as well)

That Astro kid is really good, I was pleasantly surprised - he's got to have some guts to get up there at his age and perform like that.
What were the ratings like for last nights show?

Thanks for this - have to say the American X Factor is head and shoulders above our X factor - at least most of their contestants can sing and they don't have novelty acts!

I thought that Tiah actually did well, just a shame that the competition was so fierce in that category. It was definitely her most competent performance vocally to date so I thought Nicole and Paula were quite harsh.

Philip was hard done by IMO. I'm a fan of Rene's but if they were really judging based on the night's performances then he should have been the one to go. I didn't think Marcus was as great as they suggested either. And why did Philip have to do something out of his comfort zone in the first week while everyone else got to play it safe? As always with this show, they stitch up the ones they want out.

With Astro, I know he is talented, but I see him as an arrogant, annoying little brat. Also Rachel Crow annoys me.

Drew doesn't annoy me at all, she did at her audition though when she said she's a Justin Bieber fan.

Still think it was a bad mistake by Simon to ditch both Tiah and Simone. It was obvious one of them would be going home but for the sake of diversity, he should have sacrificed Rachel for one of them.
I think he probably wanted to do this too but figured that Rachel would attract more phone votes than Tiah/Simone.
"it's all about da money, money, money"

I also get the feeling that Simon isn't too invested in Melanie but kept her on as he knows she has a huge fanbase.

SO pleased Simon did the right thing, Tiah and Simone were MILES behind Melanie, Drew and Rachel.

Astro's crazy talented - not even 'for his age', just crazy talent. Not really my type of music, but he's off the scale.

I hope Drew wins. Cliche, but I'd listen to her singing the phone book.

Melanie, on the other hand, technically proficient (excellent even) but who cares? It's all so predictable and pedestrian.

I think Paula has no chance in winning with her groups. Simon's girls are good I think. L.A. - Astro and Marcus. And from Nicole's group I really like Leroy Bell and Josh Krajcik.

I've been saying the EXACT same thing! Glad someone agrees. Tiah was captivating, although not the best singer.

I wasn't happy with all the choices for the top 17, but since that's what we had to work with last night, I'm OK with the top 12 choices. Rachel, Tiah and Simone were interchangeable to me so it doesn't really matter and other than that the right acts went through.

we have acts like johnny and kitty, they have astro and rachel. Talk about making the UK look bad. Although I think Simon is the only judge I would keep. Kick Kelly rowland out.

LA Ried and Kelly are all pro black, which is understandable but annoying.

Nicole doesnt have a clue, says crap things all the time.

Never like Abdul, she looks like an ugly older j-lo.
