My poor collie is hiding behind the sofa. Our old collie used to hide in the bath of all places! The rest of the year you couldn't get her near the bathroom, but as soon as those bangs started it became her bunker!

Sorry about your poor doggie. We've had the same problem.

Currently we have fireworks going off as there is a hindu festival going on. My cats don't realy mind it tbh, that's not to say they enjoy it. Both my cats are in, but if they were outisde they would just sit close by the house in our garden and wouldn't stray outside the garden. They dont seem scared at all, there acting normal.

I have no idea yet because this will be our cat's first ever Fireworks night...fingers crossed he will be ok because we are off out that night

Well Mollie is under the dining table with a throw over it making her a den, she is currently sleeping fitfully with occasional whines if it gets too loud. Duncan is snoring and wondering what all the fuss is about.

Same here, this will be Archie's first fireworks night, and I didn't have Woody last year, so I was unsure how he would react. But things are looking good so far, there was a lot of fireworks going off tonight and neither were bothered.

Shadow, my elderly cat has never been bothered by fireworks, which is odd as he is scared of just about everything else.

My dog is terrified of fireworks she digs at the floor and climbs behind tv and pants and shakes . I'm dreading the next few weeks . I put a blanket over her and make sure her face is covered this seems to help

All my previous cats have been scared stiff of fireworks and used to hide under chairs/beds or even in the wardrobe, but strangely enough my present one Rolo, who is still quite timid, doesn't seem bothered at all. I shut the cat flap whilst they are on, but overall he just sleeps through them, fortunately.

Look bewildered for a few seconds then fall back to sleep.

Our cat Luke goes absolutley bananas - he HATES fireworks.

It's weird how pets are frightened of fireworks - I mean their not frightened of jumping over barbed wire and cutting themselves, their not phased by strangers stroking them in the street...... but stone me, a couple of whiz-bangs in the air and they act like Ken Dodd on ecstasy.

I think my two cats must be weird. We've had the odd ones going off around here the past few days, and the usually just jump into the window and watch the sparklies. Mind you, maybe the fact they live indoors has something to do with it because they like to watch lightning storms as well.

Strangely, my cat Sparky seems immune to the sound of them. I checked that he wasn't going deaf, but he's hearing is fine. Maybe they're at a frequency that doesn't bother him?

My boxer was only 9 months old on his first bonfire night and for the weeks prior and after everytime he heard a firework he ran around the house peeing as he went, he is 7 now and isnt phased by them at all..he actually sits in the garden with us watching the fireworks.

Merlin shakes and pants when in the house and tries to cram himself into the smallest space or as close to me as possible if he hears a firework. Pixie does some outraged barking and grumbling if the noise wakes her up.

A few years ago my neighbour had a bar-b-q and fireworks and the dogs were great. They were in our neighbours garden with us and seemed to really enjoy the sparkles and the whizzes and the bangs. I swear they were watching the rockets zoom up to the sky. I didn't know about the fireworks in advance or I wouldn't have taken the dogs round but they said to bring them.

It's awful seeing Merlin so scared. He doesn't like loud noises at the best of time but the noise from fireworks have him a shaking gibbering heap.

My dal is strange, ever since a pup he loves watching them.

When she was a tiny Puppy she used to hide under the computer desk and in the cupboard.

i remember once we couldnt find her and we looked all over then we heard a noise from the cupboard which was where she was cowering right up the back of it

My puppy hides under the curtains and falls asleep. When a firework goes off she barks and growns for a bit, and then falls back to sleep.

We had our beloved dog 5 years, he never batted an eyelid whether they were going off at home or if we were out walking him on bonfire night. Only time he jumped was when I'd lost my keys and had to come in the back door, I snuck up on him standing at the front door waiting for me and he hit the ceiling!

Years ago we had cats, they never seemed bothered by the fireworks but I did keep them housebound for about a week around bonfire night.

Do you think dogs are more frightened of fireworks than than cats?

My cats are snoring on the bed...my dog is trying to get under the sofa, there's a one inch gap and she's a Border Collie Cross, so definitely!

She's barking and is all scared next to me!

My cats are asleep on the bed too. Next door's dog is going ballistic.

Poor animals that get scared, they must be wondering what is happening.
