Out of the recent report leaked to a certain Sunday newspaper, that included details of 14 characters to be axed, the BBC have come forward and confirmed that 7 from the list will leave the show by Winter 2005. Those not in-line for the axe are EastEnders stalwarts Wendi Peters (Pauline Fowler), Lesley Grantham (Den Watts) and newcomer Laurie Brett (Jane Collins), who has proved very popular with viewers, in her recent storylines.
The first to leave the square include most of the Ferreira family, Ronny (Ray Panthaki), Adi (Ameet Chana), Ash (Raji James) and Kareena (Pooja Shah). They will leave in February with Minty (Cliff Parisi), Nana Moon (Hilda Braid) and Kate Mitchell (Jill Halfpenny) leaving in the EastEnders car bomb due to be aired in March.
Meanwhile new boss Kathleen Hutchinson is vowing to bring back ex-Enders Gillian Taylforth and Patsy Palmer, reprising their roles and Kathy Mitchell and Bianca Butcher respectively. EE viewing figures sunk to 6.2million last week. Also on the return are Peggy and Phil Mitchell (Barbara Windsor and Steve McFadden), the BBC refused to comment on the return of Grant (Ross Kemp).

Surely the BBC did not release a statement with this as her name? Wendy Richard won't be happy. Wendi Peters plays Cilla in Corrie which makes me wonder about the authenticity of that statement.

No good! Apart from the welcome departure of the Ferreira's.. (please don't say tariq has escaped though!!) I don't agree with Kate or Nana Moon going at all. They both had major potential. How can anybody justify them going, and Spencer, Juley and Gus sticking around

Also this sounds a bit dodgy. Recent storylines? She has had one at most. How do the BBC know how popular she is already?

Where exactly did the BBC 'say' all this, please?
There's no corresponding press release on their site.

Wendi Peters is Cilla from Corrie isn't it? lol

Well I think speculation aside, Wendy RICHARDS people! lol *ahem* thank you, it was pretty safe to say that Pauline Fowler and Leslie Grantham will never leave EastEnders unless by their own hand. EastEnders has shot themselves in the foot a lot this year with casting decisions, so much so that one foot has been blown right off, now if they had wanted to blow the other foot off, axeing Jane would have been a sure fire way to do that. So she's not going anywhere, we love Jane, let her be.

Kate Mitchell and Nana Moon will be missed but we will get over losing them in the bomb. I think also Gus and Juley should be on that list aswell, theres no excuse for axeing dear old Nana and keeping these two clowns. There pointless and are only there to fill in gaps, get rid!

If they're getting rid of Nana its only common sense that they can't get rid of Spencer, as much as I loathe the pigeon chested little twirp, you have to think of the reprecussions on remaining characters, what would happen to Alfie Moon if both Spencer and Nana died in the bomb? He'd sure as hell top himself. Although if you ask me I'd save Nana and kill Spencer off as he's weak, can't act, has the same stupid facial expression for every emotion and is basically a twirp!

Ian ran off to Souf Africa tonight to see Kathy, whats wrong with her? Could this be a possible link to her returning in the New Year? Is it true Louise Berridge's exit was planned? And if so, does that mean Kathleen Hutchisons reign in Walford will dawn on our screens by Xmas? Speculate speculate speculate people! One things for sure though..........

The Ferreiras are auuut! hurrah! lol

Well I think for their 20th EastEnders are going all out, risky is the key word my son. It looks as though Kathleen will be residing over the 20th anniversary shenanigans in Walford which does look will be a bit of a blast.....pardon the pun lol
