Honeycomb has hidden Gingerbread interface
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/20/a...-enabled-by-h/
This kind of removes the need for ICS The OEM could set the Pixel Density to 170dpi to enable the other UI if it is a phone. And to 160dpi if it is a Tablet. Although the UI does look a bit dated compared to ICS. |

This is really old news...and its only there because Honeycomb had minimal under the hood tweaks from Gingerbread and it was rushed so all sorts of legacy stuff is there...I expect that has been taken out with ICS...
It certainly doesn't remove the need for ICS as ICS unifies tablets and phones with one UI paradigm rather than two so its very important in that respect... Plus 3.0 apps can be scaled down to run on phones with 4.0, but 2.3 Gingerbread is not capable of running every 3.0 app properly. |
