Well done Sharon. We all fancy ourselves at writing an episode but she is an actual writer and loves the show so fair play to her for getting the gig. I'm sure she'll do a good job.

Just because she has writing experience doesn't necessarily mean she'll be a good writer for EastEnders. It's all about tone, and understanding characterizations. Some people can be long term, loyal viewers of EastEnders and still completely misunderstand certain characterizations.
I never cared much for her with her soap segments, uh...
That doesn't necessarily make her a bad writer but...
I do hope she writes a decent episode anyways of course. I hope this won't be too regular, or ever again if not though. Isn't she a bit busy to be a full time EE writer anyways?

they share eps out to different writers so she might not write another one for ages if she does

Yeah, I know. I know some writers don't write very much. That's something I don't particularly like though. I mean there must be a reason for it - but wouldn't a more compact/consistent writing team do better? It seems odd for a writer to suddenly write an episode after not having done so for 8 months? I just wonder what the reasons are for this. But, I know most writers the gaps aren't that big. But I know a few times I've looked up a writer for a certain ep on IMDB to find big gaps.

However I have met Sharon and she's lovely
She might turn out to be a real find, one of the best EE writers ever and I genuinely wish her well. But I am very concerned if she is still on the BSA judging panel - even if she did her level best to be impartial (and was) she'd still be open to accusations of favouritism etc. It's not feasible for her to stay on the judging panel now IMO.

Some of the E20 writers are characters in EastEnders (Darren,Tamwar and Zsa,Zsa have all written episodes)
I supose she does know EastEnders well so i supose we will have to wait and see.
