Of course they might. It just sometimes seems the writing team is rather loose that's all.

No, it isn't. It's never fair for someone with loyalty with someone/something and allowed to be part of judging panel. I am well aware that some people are quite capable of being unbiased, but that's not the case for everyone so it's best just make sure everyone is impartial by making sure they have no affiliations.

I like her. Whenever I've seen her she's always cheerful and really enthusiastic about soaps

Exactly. Some people are going way over the top.

I like Sharon and hope she does well. Which I am sure she will, although like Monalisa says I'm sure some will slag her off regardless of whether the episode is good or not anyway but at least wait until it airs before passing judgement. Sarah Phelps for a start had no experience before writing for EastEnders yet she became one of their strongest in recent times. Now Sarah has just finished writting and co producing Great Expectations for BBC One. It will air over Christmas.

I also remember Nick saying Sharon Marshall was one of the nicer press people to come to Emmerdale , he seemed to like her from what I can tell , although I don't know whether he would aprove of her being on the panel , But I git the impression that she was liked .

The thing is her script would have had to have been vetted by the EP so I'm sure it will be brilliant.

Getting a bit too personal here aren't you?

You lot need to calm down. The majority of writers who write for soaps are just starting out, are learning their craft or have little professional writing experience - you lot are making it sound as if EE writers are the best dramatists since Shakespeare and Marlowe. The likes of Jimmy McGovern, Paul Abbott, Kay Mellor and Heidi Thomas all got their start writing for soaps.

I like to write in my spare time as a pastime and it is an insult that just because Sharon Marshall is a friend of Brian that she could be allowed to write an episode of Eastenders.

Listen to all these expert soap writers going on about how awful it is that Sharon's written one episode of EE.

I agree with those saying give her a chance.

I'm not aware of the full context to this, but if she is becoming a regular writer on any one of the soaps, the decent thing would be to quit her role as soap critic and commentator in the interests of impartiality, right?

If she's just doing a one-off episode and Eastenders have accepted to humour her, fair enough, but she's putting her full-time employment at risk by - intentionally or unintentionally - showing a bias towards one soap over the others. She must be aware of this.

It does explain why she got so tetchy weeks ago when a few of us pointed out that she was quite unenthusiastic about that week's Emmerdale on her This Morning segment - to the point that she had our posts removed.

I would also add that, if this just a one-off for the time being, it is most likely with a view to it becoming something more permanent. It reminds me of Daran Little's ascension from archivist to writer on Coronation Street - the obvious difference being that he was only involved with/interested in the one show (at least up until that time), so impartiality was never a question in his case.

Highly doubt she is going to do that it is her wage after all and writing not a highly paid profession unless your very well known that's why a lot are freelance.

Well we'll definitely be in safe hands if Kirkwood is over seeing it...

Agree. Sharon does not deserve all these unpleasant attacks.

People should be ashamed of themselves.

I have tweeted her asking whether she will be on the BSA panel presuming she is writing the EE ep. If she replies, which i doubt, i will post it. Might tweet itv, they might care more. I couldn't care less about the fact she writes an ep - great for her - i just don't think its fair she should remain on the panel. Either that or get writers from all the soaps on, but that wouldn't lead anywhere.

I personally think she will make a very good writer for EastEnders.

Shades of the recruitment of Kris Green as a writer here then if it's true! She might shock us and write a half decent episode if she's on board at any stage but I think that as fairly unlikely! Basically this move shows how desperate the show is under Kirkwood and how much it is in the doldrums right now - and it ain't getting any better........!

wat worries me is the characters she likes (Jodie and Poppy) so I expect they will feature heavily in her episodes whilst they are still around.

I'm sure she can write a script but its almost like one of us as fans writing an episode (or Kris Green!)

THis just looks like some favours doing the rounds. You write an episode of EE and you give us good press.

Agree. She could be one of the best writers Eastenders has ever had but her position on the BSA panel should now be in doubt.

I guess she'll write in plenty of topless and/or underwear scenes for the likes of Tyler, Anthony and Syed
