I have watched this discussion from a distance and the comments regarding Ms Marshall and her appointment to EE as a writer, i cannot agree that she is a competent scribe. It is frankly laughable that she was appointed in the first place.
I have worked since 1992 providing scripts and material for various productions, contributing to a fair few productions and dare i say television adverts that have annoyed many but still its a hard slog even for a recognised name to get work in todays climate.
Professional writers with decades in the business are livid that Ms Marshall and Mr Green were able to secure positions within the team at EE,sour grapes you may say but both were appointed on merit, there was no open application process thus to enable professional scribes to submit their applications. I would have applied myself.
Eastenders is supposed to be the BBC flagship production yet it is produced like an amateur hour show, sure it has flashes of brilliance at least once a month but it should be consistent, it can have a duff duff episode but at the rate they appear its bound to have an adverse affect on its ratings and the ratings of those that follow.
