While my Foxsat-HDR was in standby last night, I suddenly noticed the front screen displaying a code: the letter 'L' followed by three numbers, counting up sequentially roughly every ten seconds.

The box won't respond to a boot-up either by remote or by the switch on the unit itself.

It's stuck with the red light on and this 'count-up' continuing. Could it be a channel search or something? I've checked all my cabling and everything seems okay.

Any ideas?

Panic over! Not sure what it was but it seems to have reset itself and is working again.

Interesting - anyone else see this? Sounds like housekeeping downloaded new firmware - Why it's not down this before now is a puzzle unless your HDR is on frequently at 03:00?

The housekeeper did also have some sorting out to do last night applying the time change.

It's usually completely off at the mains overnight and I was up late on this one occasion. So maybe it's something that should have occurred regularly overnight if left in standby.

Whatever it was, the process continued when I switched it on later in the morning and then went back to normal.

It will have updated the firmware. You should leave the box in low power sby overnight. Among other jobs it refreshes the epg, writes the chapter thumbnails, checks for firmware updates and auto updates changes to the channel line up.

And in standby uses < 1w (unlike some well known PVR's)
