Thats a pretty big difference!

One has to wonder what to believe.

I am inclined to believe the CEO but does that mean they lost 2.5 million in less than a year?”

You have no idea what set of figures he was referring to and what he was or wasn't including. It's quite clear the numbers are more than 5 million, he might have been talking generally in an interview and talking in general terms.

I love the way you accept vague quotes when it backs up your arguments, but insist upon authoritarian and direct sources for things anyone else posts.

Could you please give the negativity a rest though, your bashing over and over of 1 provider is beyond the joke.

He is the CEO and he should be telling the truth! I doubt he'd be much of an asset if he did not know how many customers he had on the books!

HWL's report stats include the Irish Republic but they don't have many customers there either and have been forced to reduce their user stats by Irish Telecoms regulator COMREG after they were caught inflating them!

3UK had the highest subscriber growth rate in 2010, at 12.4% in percentage terms, the O2 figure you quote also includes Tesco and other MVNOs.

Really anyway it's not a competition, @Wave you don't need to do your best to dredge up any muck you can just to desperately try and prove a point.

Percentages can be very misleading. 99% of a low number amounts to a small number.

The real numbers that count are numbers of customers and in 3's case there is some concern as to the accurate number of paying customers as the parent company and the local CEO don't seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

Sad but true.

Some evidence that proves its best to be wary about 3's subscriber claims:

http://www.sbpost.ie/news/3-overstat...ars-51239.html

"Mobile phone operator 3 Ireland has been overstating its customer numbers for four years, according to the telecoms regulator.

In an embarrassing revelation, the multinational mobile firm has admitted that it mixed up key information, leaving the regulator with incorrect mobile phone statistics.

The mistake could lead to the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) having to revise four years of official data, as well as applying for an adjustment of EU-wide statistics."
