The poppies for this years Remembrance Day has been launched, so why wasn't anyone on the programme wearing one?

I hadnt thought of that.

IIRC all the dancers were wearing one last year

I think they will make something of it next week - I don't think it ties in well with Halloween and the lovely poppies would be lost amongst all the drama and debris don't you think ?

Perhaps because noone would have noticed with all the halloween tat. It's probably more respectful to do poppies for the first time when you're not sitting in a coffin or staking a vampire.

Peed off with the show tonight.

I think last year poppies only appeared the weekend of Remembrance Sunday.

its too early for Poppies yet anyway i expect we will see them next week

Because it's not even November yet?

You can't do Hallowe'en and Remembrance Weekend at the same time, mostly because they are nearly two weeks apart

The comments about Halloween is probably valid for the dancers but not the judges. The same applies to X Factor.

It isn't Remembrance Sunday for two weeks. Plus I've not even seen any on sale yet (and I'm in London)

It's too darned soon. 10 days is quite enough. Preferably a week.

I'm pretty sure people with little better to do complained that they wear them too early (I mean really?) especially with the Newsreaders
Ballroom-B.

I thought there was an etiquette to only wear poppies in November. Afterall they are commemorating the fallen from all wars, and the special significance of the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
To have worn poppies tonight in amongst the 'spectacle' would have seemed crass to me: including the judges given that they had their prop score cards and a decorated table.

Poppies with Halloween week would have been a disaster and disrespectful for what they stand for. Poppies will appear for next week and rememberance weekend.

I think this thread would have been busier if they WERE wearing poppies.

Just goes to show you can't win with the general public

Poppies too early.
Poppies too late.
No poppies.
Ornamental poppies.
White poppies.

The arguments seem endless - and pointless.

But Chelsee (the dancer) came very close to showing her "puppies".

I haven't seen any poppies for sale yet. But have seen MPs on TV wearing them.

Not poppygate again! We get all these complaints about props and theme nights and 'it's supposed to be about the dancing', and then people want poppies as well!

Although Gethin Jones lauched the Poppy Appeal this week, I read that the BBC people don't have to wear them until 7 November.

Why does it anger you so much that they don't? Better to have a vampire wearing a poppy?

Why should they have them on? It should be down to the individual if they choose to wear one or not.
