What on earth are loafers anyway. Never heard of them. Is it some sort of bread? Or are they slip ons? If so, I never wear them.

They are slip ons.
A teacher in my Secretarial Studies class at school (75% lassies in the class) always warned us to:-
"Never trust a man(ager) who wears slip on shoes".
That piece of advice has never failed me.
