Yes I think that Chelsee and Harry will have a very good week.

Aww, it just seems like the perfect dance for those two doesn't it? Hope Chelsee has a stunner to make up for Wardrobegate

There is a serious lack of fast latin being done at the moment

So one for Anita then...

She's already done jive and salsa so it cant be her.

Fast latin - Id say Holly and Jive should be pretty fast... (and whoever's doing the samba).

Agreed Edy this is so perfect for the two of them and I think she will have the judges partial to her after wardrobegate.

Cannot think of a better dance - full of energy, charisma and cheek - I think they will top the leader board this week

Until last year it was a semi final dance - a kind of reward for getting so far

I think last year, Tina and Jared performed it Hallowe'en week.

Holly has Jive, Harry has Samba this week. Given everyone so far is doing a different dance then we're only missing Salsa from the "fast" list - Anita can't have that though as she's already done it. Alex really needs to be given a fast latin though...

And Matt & Aliona slightly more successfully but it illustrated that this is a dance that doesn't fit a theme week very well and is better performed later in the competition...

I think I meant more that generally each week we seem to have very little fast latin..

In week 3 there were 3 fast latin out of 13 performances
In week 4 there were 3 fast latin out of 12 performances
In week 5 there were 2 fast latin out of 11 performances

We are on week six and Alex for instance has only done the Cha Cha her other latins have been Rumba & Paso.

I think that this will be her downfall later on.

Thats what I just said somewhere else!!

At least to Audley's credit he hasn't had the easy option with regard to some weeks- hope that keeps him in this week- his ballroom has been better than some and woefully marked in comparison to some!

Fair enough - I'd agree that's a lack of fast latin. But last year we did have two finalists who'd managed to completely avoid the samba so it's not exclusive to this year

I think they've got a bunch of contestants they suspect aren't very good at them so have been avoiding them to level the playing field. They can't do that forever though...

As someone who basically skipped the last 2 series, is the Charleston considered as being a ballroom dance?
edy10

I think that the charleston is classify as a latin dance.

Ballroom: waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, tango, Viennese waltz, American smooth.

Latin: cha cha cha, rumba, samba, salsa, paso doble, jive.

Then charleston and Argentine tango sort of fall between the two.

In the manner of the really big hills in the Tour de France, they are hors category dances

I think last year was worked so that the finalists would miss out one dance guaranteed (I don't think Matt did the Waltz) because Kara wasn't allowed to perform the Samba because she did it with Mark Ramprakash on the Sport Relief show.

Same with Harry this year. Wasn't he docked a week's training because he had danced before?

I didn't know about the missing dance thing last year, I didn't know it was part of a compensation rule.

I think Kara was docked a week of training time last year too

I feel sure the reason all the finalists were a dance shy of the full complement last year was because of the Widdynator's continued presence late into the comp. I don't think she was prepared to do two dances a week (or maybe it was the nation that wasn't up to it ) and they accomodated her .

I felt a bit cheated at the time - I believe it's meant to be an Artem speciality and would have loved to have seen a Kartem samba

Not sure it's etched in stone but it's a bit of a coincidence that the dance she had performed was the one she didn't do on SCD.
There would have been cries of 'fix' if she had (AGAIN!!) so I suppose it made sense to leave it out.

So in that case, Harry shouldn't be doing the Paso at any point this series....
