Aaaargh!!pls help with my ipod!!
hi all!
i got an ipod yesterday, ive been waiting all month for payday lol! trouble is, now ive got it im so confused!! i have had a creative nomad jukebox 3 for ages and am so used to it! i am using musicmaker jukebox to transfer my files (and thats just confusing too) and am running XP SP2. my main problem is that i borrowed an audiobook cd and ripped it to my pc and now i cant transfer it. its about 9 hours long maybe more and all the files are MP3 (theres 1509 in all) they are sorted by chapter and in that chapter eg chapter 1, then sorted by track number eg 01,02,03. the problem i seem to be having is that MMJB is transferring them all but putting them all in track order (all 01's then all 02's etc) is there any way of doing it properly without renaming each track? (even then there isnt an option in MMJB to do that lol) i hope that makes sense and that someone can help me sort out my "issues" lol any ideas of "easier" (more like creative jukebox) software i can use or how to fix the track prob would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys!!

Why not use iTunes? You should've got a copy of it with your iPod - latest version is 4.6 so if you didn't get that then you can download it from Apple.com. Depending on your model of iPod there may also be a software update for it available there so that's worth checking - for iPod mini's it's 1.1, for the 4th gen 20 and 40GB iPod's it's 3.0.1. Both display it under Main menu -> Settings -> About.

Looks like 2.2 is the latest for the 3G ones. I'm looking at http://www.apple.com/ipod/ then taking the link off the small box in the bottom righthand corner to both iTunes and to the latest iPod software. You can get iTunes for Windows and for Macs. At least you can try it and see if you like it.
I don't have any audiobooks (don't even know what they are but can sort of guess) but since my 4G iPod has a menu option to play Audiobooks back slow/normal/fast I guess there must be support for them in there somewhere

CAREFUL - make sure BEFORE you go to Update iPod that you put in your iTunes music library ALL the music you already have on your iPod (i.e. go to Add New Folder and make sure you've found and added all the music currently stored on your PC that is currently on your iPod). Clicking Update iPod (syncronising) will make your iPod match what is in your library - so anything not in your library that is on your iPod is erased and anything in your library that isn't on your iPod will be added. This is only a problem if you have music on there that is no longer on your PC! |
