Digihome PVR 80 Display
Looks like these are coming to the end of their natural life. Noticed this morning that the display on mine has started to flash with strange characters - I seem to remember this was a sign of imminent failure. Didn't have time to check whether it was still working properly - I'll do that tonight.

Hi Quote:
I seem to remember this was a sign of imminent failure.

Hi all, had this same problem happen to me yesterday (scrambled display, green power light staying on after switching off via remote etc), plus some extra faults... Eventually the power went down all together.
A quick check of the board revealed a very obvious dome-head on a capacitor (on the mains power supply board). Swapped the capacitor, and all is well once again. Quote:
from memory, the cap I changed was a 16v 1000uf, think there are 2 or 3 caps of the same spec on the power supply board.

The only bulging one I had was the 47uf 400v jobbie. Ordered a replacement from Farnell (higher temperature rating!) ... All is now working good as new! Hurray!

I had a good look at it last night and after a reboot started to work fine again, The PVR seemed to be working fine before the reboot except for the dodgy display. Perhaps there is a bit more life in the old girl yet.

Spoke too soon - display messed up again - domed capacitor. Now recovering programmes to Hard drive. Now have to think about replacement.
