Fantastic rating for CIN- its highest average audience since 2003.
Any idea how ITV1 held up last night ? With that kind of competition, IAC may well have been around 5-6m? Also, I TOS might've beaten Emmerdale. |

Wow, extremely close between BBC One and ITV1 at 7pm then but a narrow win for the latter in the end.
I'm a Celeb held up very well considering. |

Im a Celeb had 6.46m (24.7%) [+1: 360k], Emmerdale 6.81m (30.6%) [+1: 108k] - both are full slot averages
. So, Emmerdale just about edged out The One Show. That's The One Show's highest ever audience, isn't it? I know it had 6.9m officially for an episode last year but in terms of overnights, it was in the mid 6's IIRC. IAC held up pretty well considering the competition - last year's equivalent episode had 6m, and given CIN rated almost 1m better than last year, I thought IAC might've rated worse.

Fantasitc for Children in need but is that the last time it was shown at tv center.
![]() Strictly Come Dancing does look amazing at Wembely but that echo is annoying hopefully that won't put people off though. Looking towards next year we should be looking at some very high ratings with the reality programs like aways but with Euro 2012, Olympics and Queens Jubalie. Hopefully next year can continue to be a great year for the terrestrial tv channels. |

Do we know how CiN did between 7:30 and 10pm last year? Part of the rationale behind my 10m prediction on the DSRPG was that the first half an hour of the 3 hour block was probably the lowest rated normally, so stripping it out would increase the average?

The Beeb should have put the results show out live tonight at 10pm, as this has a real "event tv" feel about it. It won't be the same tomorrow recorded, and with 6000 in the audience, the result has more chance of getting out more widely.

I have only seen Ep1 and 2 and it looks alright. With no Desperate Housewives next year, what are ABC going to do to fill that gap?

That said, if GCB does fail, it wouldn't be the complete disaster you might have thought at the start of the season. Now they have the surprise success of Once Upon A Time stationed at 8pm, they can probably slot a new show into 9pm next season if the need to, confident that it at least has a stable launchpad.

Last year's CIN had 9.4m between 7.30-10pm. Shortening the time does help with the average, as you say, the 7-7.30pm period has always normally been the lowest rated bit of the broadcast. But yesterday's rating was up y-o-y by +0.6m anyway doing a direct timeslot comparison.

What a stonker that was of an opening - the best I've seen on a LE show from the BBC in the last decade at least. Just proves what Strictly could do if it had an X Factor budget every week...

Wonder how much on top of the £102,000 raised for Children in Need was put towards putting on the show. They've done a very good job though in adapting the set to suit the arena - it looks great, and I bet Simon is wishing he hadn't put off an arena style X Factor final for so long now, especially as this years finalists are the least deserving of

You can bet your bottom dollar when Cowell sees the tape of SCD @ Wembley it will be on the agenda for 2012...
Just thinking about it I wonder if the Strictly and X Factor finals may fall on the same dates next years with Christmas Day. falling on the Tuesday. The 22nd is possibly too late for Strictly, while the 8th too early for X Factor - so both being on the 15th/16th a real possibility. Also have the demos for Strictly got younger at all over the last couple of years considering they took alot of the stuffiness out of the format with last years revamp. |

Strictly is brilliant tonight. It deserves to top the ratings but ratings aside it's certainly a lot more entertaining than the karaoke on ITV1.
Fantastic rating for CIN last night too. So IAC has lost half its audience since the opening episode.

Fantastic night for BBC 1 with CIN and TOS doing fantastic figures.
IAC held up very well considering as did Emmerdale it seems. It will be interesting to see how Coronation Street did actually given it went head to head with CIN. SCD very impressive tonight and I hope it tops the ratings. |

Brilliant rating for CIN. I suppose the shorter run time helped bump the average up but that peak is still brilliant in itself. People don't seem to care it's the same thing every year and tune in regardless! ITV1 did very well in the circumstances.
And Strictly looked fantastic from Wembley. A proper spectacle and you've got to hand it to the production team who've gone all-out . Unlike Blackpool, you wouldn't want it there every week - but as a one off it's brilliant. XF is going to look a bit small and underpowered by comparison tonight. And I don't think you could ever say that before. |

And with that Children in Need will easily be heading into the Top 20 chart for 2011 - great rating for itself yesterday. I'm a Celebrity held up very well against Children in Need as usual, any other show that has 10m on BBC1 normally crashes and burns when against it on ITV1!

Strange that there should be so much love for tonight's Strictly on this thread because in the Strictly thread it appears to be a universal thumbs-down.

I thought Strictly was dire tonight; too big an arena, echoy speech, the dances got lost in the music which didn't suit etc. (echoing what's being said in the Strictly thread. ![]() )
