Strange that there should be so much love for tonight's Strictly on this thread because in the Strictly thread it appears to be a universal thumbs-down.
I've never seen any change get the thumbs up from that forum.

I think that's the difference between the hardcore fans and the general audience, to be honest. I just couldn't care less if you didn't see the footwork very well because of the camera placements - and I suspect the majority of the casual Saturday night audience couldn't either!

Some things do - I think the new set went down pretty well (last year) as have some of the new pros.

The final's at Wembley this year... IIRC it was announced before Strictly's jaunt there.

I thought Strictly was dire tonight; too big an arena, echoy speech, the dances got lost in the music which didn't suit etc. (echoing what's being said in the Strictly thread. )
I wonder how it will do in the ratings. The core audience of the 4m over 65's who form the SCD bedrock may not enjoy it from what you say. But it may pull in more of the twitterati.

Is tonight your first time in that forum? Everything is always moan, moan there all the time especially since last years revamp.

They moan about everything in the SCD forum, it's the same as the X Factor one yet they still watch it.

Er Sorry the place was full of complaints about the distracting Background and lighting.

as have some of the new pros.
Sorry are you joking me, do you forget the axing of the pro's last year and the constant I wish Ian and Matthew are back.

Was it? I can't remember that!

True, but the likes of Artem, Robin, Pasha and Kristina are liked so it's swing and roundabouts with the pros.

Apt. 23 is a tricky one. Happy Endings was given a full back 9 and is picking up some nice momentum out of Modern Family so I can't see them wanting to move that. Plus the rest of the Wednesday block is doing well so there's not really space for it there. I wonder if it might get the old Samantha Who? time slot - Monday 9:30 from April. Samantha Who? started really well in that slot before they made the truly bizarre decision to move it opposite Two and a Half Men for a few weeks.
ABC really did butcher Samantha Who. Looking at their ratings now and during their competition against 2 1/2 Men, they lost so much both in viewers and 18-49. Of course, Samantha Who? was one of the ABC shows which got a short first season, due to the Writers' Strike. I think Cashmere Mafia was the few (the only drama?) ABC freshman shows which didn't survive the strike. Their first half of second season numbers weren't too bad, when you see Castle's numbers now. That being said, 3.0-3.2 would have been considered average at the time and it was after DWTS. The moment when they really lost the steam was when ABC moved the show to Thursday after In The Motherhood. That tanked and after that got the axe, it was too late for Samantha Who.

I am worried about Cougar Town for that same reason. I'm not sure if being paired with Last Man Standing would help Cougar Town at all. LMS isn't getting great numbers, just sufficient numbers for now. There is always that slight vote of confidence where CT can grow from LMS, like Parks and Recreation does with Community. What was ABC thinking with Celebrity Wife Swap? The more I see that title, the more angry I get. I thought Wife Swap was over and done with like Supernanny. Do they really think that show will fill in DWTS' results show absence?

ABC schedules hardly surprises/shocks me anymore. They always do something weird and stupid.

I've popped in the last couple of weeks to skim through in search of the scores, but this was the first time I was actively looking for opinions.

Meanwhile.... in between TV Burp and Casualty we put An Audience With Ken Dodd on as background and, maybe I wasn't paying proper attention, but Channel 5 appear to be showing this without any commercial breaks.

That is correct. There has been no ad breaks at all on Channel 5 since the programme began over an hour ago. Marvellous entertainment.

Merlin, Casualty and The X Factor will be tape-checked tomorrow:

The X Factor: 20.15-21.25
Merlin: 20.20-21.00
Casualty: 21.05-TBD

XF finished 5 mins early. SCD over-ran a little, meaning both Merlin and Casualty started slightly later than billed.

Amazing rating for CiN - 10m average up against CS & IAC on a Friday. Great figure for TOS also against Emmerdale. So much whining on the CiN thread last night but it seems it was a huge hit with family viewers, if not DS members.

IAC average for first 5 shows

2010: - 8.78m
2011 - 8.69m

The highlights on BBC1 tonight were introduced by One Direction if I am not mistaken, but only imagine 2.5m will watch the rerun. SCD was really big tonight and deserves a cracking rating.

We've got it on too, and wondering why the lack of ads given how well this will probably rate. Bizarre. Perhaps they are trying to catch TXF and IAC flippers?

Or maybe they couldn't sell any ads?

The X Factor: 20.15-20.25
Merlin: 20.20-21.00
Casualty: 21.05-TBD

Ten minute TXF? Another power failure?

'The Jury' timeshifted to a consolidated series average of 6.20m (6.57m inc +1):

Mon: 7.66m (7.99m inc +1)
Tue: 5.75m (6.18m)
Wed: 5.77m (6.11m)
Thu: 5.93m (6.35m)
Fri: 5.91m (6.21m)

It rated higher than the first series in 2002 which averaged 6.04m. Usually dramas which officially get 6m+ get recommissioned, so this might get another series if there's scope for one. Incidentally, Death in Paradise that week timeshifted to 5.28m and Frozen Planet had 8.84m.

Another record low from Five on Friday night primetime. Twice in one week. BB has really screwed them up big time. 2.1% primetime share.

Vacancy (526k/2.2%); Tamara Ecclestone: Billion Dollar Girl (374k/2.5%)

horrific figures for Channel 5 last night.

How embarrassing considering Big Brother was a ply to get long term younger viewers to Five!
