That's quite a good rating for Home and Away's 6pm showing for recent standards. Can't remember the last time it had 1m+.”

That is certainly an unexpected rise for H&A. Its highest overnight rating of any day since March 30th 2010 and highest Friday rating since 19th Feb 2010. Neighbours got a decent rating too with its highest Friday rating since March 2011. Neighbours is probably just normal seasonal fluctuation as we go deeper into winter but that Home And Away rating is a bit surprising. Doesn't look like anything odd happened to its usual slot running time either.

7.00 DW
8.00 EE
8.30 SCD
9.30 EE
10.00 The Royal Bodyguard [would probably win the night in that slot with DA finishing at 10]
10.30 Mrs Brown's Boys
11.00 News
11.10 Macintyre

”

ITV would then probably go with something like:

6.00 Emmerdale
7.00 Coronation Street
8.00 TV Burp
8.30 Downton Abbey

Somewhat debatable this.

When the network was announced (and launched) it was pretty emphatically stated that Oprah wouldn’t be moving her talk show from broadcast to cable and that her primary focus when her show ended would be behind the scenes at the network. I don’t think there were any immediate plans for her to return to screens in a regular series or indeed any long term plans when the network was being put together (which always struck me as very weird). As it is she’s now settled on doing a new interview series which I’m not convinced will be particularly successful. What has struck me as quite odd about OWN as a network is that they haven’t really made much of an effort to capitalise on the elements of Oprah’s chat show that were hugely successful. You’d think that the Oprah Book Club would be given fairly prominent placing on the network for example because not only was it successful but publishers absolutely loved it. The whole network is very odd.

It should be noted though that it is up double digits percentage wise vs. last year so progress is being made. That’s still low though and well below what was expected of it pre-launch.

Would they really put Mrs Brown on Xmas day? Surely they'd be inviting hundreds of complaints to ofcom.

well if it distracts them from putting out their so called newspaper, then I see no downside.

They'll create one out of clips if they need to.

looking at the audience tickets website, there is no filming mention beyond next weeks season final, so im guessing if there is a TV Burp Christmas special, it will simply be a clip show.

That said it looks like HIGNFY on the 23rd is a new episode, its not all clip show madness

Does HIGNFY not finish on the 16th - that's going to be show 9 of 9 according to my EPG?

It may well be shown on the 23rd, but it will probably be a best of.

I think Friday 23rd needs something better than a HIGNFY compilation and Apollo. How about launching "The One..." series there? Some Jasper Carrott stand up and sketches to get Christmas underway nicely. The Lenny Henry and Griff Rhys Jones ones can air the following week, perhaps GRJ at 10pm on the Tues/Weds, and Henry 9pm on Fri 30th.

Think given how well Mrs Brown did earlier in the year at 10.35pm, it would do at least 5-6m on Christmas Day, I wonder if it'll be moved to 9pm for series 2?

People love to moan and yet still watch. They're so full of it.

Erm, you do know it has hundreds of uses of the f word in it? They ain't putting it on at 9pm. You can't even say it once here, and it's 2.41am. ****! See?

I'm sure if the likes of Little Britain and Men Behaving Badly can air at 9pm on BBC One, I'm sure Mrs Brown's Boys can as well.

Hat Trick have offered tickets

http://www.hattrick.co.uk/ticketing/...iesId=427&id=4

so im thinking its a live episode, no need to offer tickets for a clip show.

Strictly was a spectacle tonight and I never thought I'd see the day where The X Factor felt smaller in comparison. It likely won't top the ratings but Strictly deserves a series best for the Wembley show.

I never watched either last night. Ended up playing on video games. But I do think The X Factor will end up getting an uplift studio wise for next year to a bigger arena although I'm not sure where because The Fountain Studios is the biggest TV studio in the UK.

Averaging 11.4m viewers (43.7% share), last night's Strictly Come Dancing was the most watched show across all channels #SCD #BBC1

Strictly's peak audience of 12.5m was a million higher than the peak for any other show (excluding +1 channels). #SCD #BBC1

Yep, it sure is. Last year's equivalent episode averaged 11.4m (45.3%) so it's back in line with last year's numbers.

Staggering win for SCD there given the lack of a clash with TXF (well, less than a minute I think as SCD slightly overran).

Huge share.

And outpeaking both IAC and TXF by more than a million!

Superb rating for Strictly. I suspect X Factor was around the mid-high 10s, so a win for SCD.

I think TXF is probably like 10.9m (11.1m Inc+1)

Merlin averaged 5.9 million between 20.15-21.00. The tape-checked rating (20.20-21.00) will be slightly lower as SCD over-ran into its slot.
