11.9 million peak audience (11.5 million excluding ITV1+1) for The X Factor last night on ITV1. 9.1 million peak for I'm A Celebrity...

IAC looks a bit on the low side. I would've thought the average was going to be around that much, not the peak.

IAC fails to break the 10m mark then. Couldn't even peak at >10m either!

Casualty will not be on air on December 17th, Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, it's last episode from Bristol will air on December 17th. It will there return from it's new Cardiff home on January 7th and 8th, with a 90 minute and 60 minute episode respectively.

Not a very good night for ITV1, it has to be said.

Why were you expecting a 10m average for IAC last night? It hasn't managed that on a Saturday night in the last 7 years apart from a final!

Looks like TXF dipped slightly week-on-week despite the better slot. The average (inc +1) will probably be around 10.5-10.9m, so SCD was comfortably in the lead. Disappointing for IAC, a likely low-mid 8s average is the first time it's been comfortably down y-o-y so far.

I think Sons of Anarchy at least premieres elsewhere (FX?) first, so they probably get the rights cheaper than if it aired on C5. And 5* and 5USA need content too - I don't think C5 is lacking in US drama, it just doesn't seem to be scheduled as effectively as it was a couple of years back.

At times there is no justice in the ratings (like IAC beating Frozen Planet on Wednesday) whereas SCD in both production and entertainment deservedly beat X Factor last night. To be honest, it looks like X Factor have almost given up this series and can't wait to put this one to bed and move on.

Merlin has been brilliant this series - must watch TV and would love to see the overall figures for it because I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Dr Who this year despite the huge TXF competition.

One final thought on IAC - Harry Hill summed it up last night when he played the clip of Douggie from McFly asking who'll be coming in to the jungle (can't remember exactly but someone like Schwarzenegger or Bruce Willis) and they got Sinitta and Pat Sharp!!

Celebrity programmes are now short of anyone who has any respectability or credibility about them. Strictly seems to at least get celebs who have had a career rather than a fleeting slice of fame. The big question for schedulers is what comes next after talent shows and reality TV because viewers are falling out of love with them quickly.

Neighbours is probably just normal seasonal fluctuation as we go deeper into winter but that Home And Away rating is a bit surprising. Doesn't look like anything odd happened to its usual slot running time either.”

Cheers Dave. I knew it was a long time, but that really is long!

This is just speculation on the Casualty threads isn't it, or is it now confirmed?

Sensible to have 2 weeks off over xmas, but seems daft not to air on SCD Final Saturday. That's usually it's best rated ep of the year.

It's a Monday. I'd be shocked if Eastenders, and probably the ITV soaps weren't in their usual slots. The BBC don't move EE around, bank holiday or not, unless there is a live event. So I'd assume EE is at 8pm

Not confirmed, but here the episode description for December 10th (warning, spoilers!) and there's also this.

I never watched either last night. Ended up playing on video games. But I do think The X Factor will end up getting an uplift studio wise for next year to a bigger arena although I'm not sure where because The Fountain Studios is the biggest TV studio in the UK.”

I can see The X Factor set getting a revamp. Last night The X Factor compared to Strictly visually was to me how Fame Academy looked compared to Pop Idol. It didn't look as dynamic and you don't say that often about The X Factor.

The only place larger than Fountain Studios that The X Factor could go is The O2, which is where they'll be for the final. Would it suit there every week though?

The X Factor averaged 10.5m (inc +1) last night.

The Killing II started with a brilliant 800k on BBC4.

The tape-checked figure for XF will be a little bit higher, but that's a disappointing figure for XF last night, down about 0.6m week-on-week. Given there were no technical difficulties last night unlike last week, it should've rated closer to 11m.

I've found Robbie tends to overpredict ITV shows just to then slag them off when they fail to make it and then underpredict BBC shows just to praise them

Thnaks rzt.

Rubbish average for TXF last night - way off last year and a good bit lower than last week. Shame as it was the best live show of the series. They'll be hoping the final will be boosted a bit by being at Wembley and then they'll be glad this series is done with.

Why would they be glad? not like BGT or Dancing on Ice will rate well next year..... and they have no other big programmes

Fantastic for Strictly and Merlin. X Factor did well but as score says it's way down from last year and should be growing not going down. But still a good rating for this day and age.

I think there's a real chance that TXF's Final average on the Saturday ends up with a lower rating than Strictly Come Dancing on the same night, which would be embarrassing.

The 15-minute clash won't help and last year, the Saturday final rated about 1m higher than this stage of the competition. Even if that happens this year, that would put the Saturday final at around c11.5/12.0m, which may well be beaten by SCD if it continues rising week-on-week!

Are they clashing for 15m for X Factors final then?

According to the schedules on December 10th, SCD will run 18.30-20.15 and TXF will air 20.00-22.00. So yep, a 15-minute clash between the two.

The way things are going, I think SCD's Final Performance show will end up with a higher rating than TXF's Final Performance show. But TXF's Final Results will have more viewers than SCD's Final Results show.

Wow i didn't know that. Is that likely to change though because it seems a bit silly that there is a 15 minute clash one day and then BBC are moving Strictly out of the way the next?

The schedules for that week are being finalised tomorrow, but I suspect there won't be any changes to it.

Won't there be more of a rise this year since it's being held at Wembley?

Bigger staging should equal bigger ratings, like we saw with Strictly last night.

Last year there was no Merlin on Strictly final night but this year there will be, so Merlin and the Lottery to fill the gap between the Strictly performance show and the result show and Casualty is surplus to requirements and they can give it a break whilst cast and crew relocate to Cardiff. All sounds sensible to me.
