You guys clock up so many posts at 2am, haven't you heard of a bed?

Interesting Sunday ratings, I do wonder if it would actually be possible for Strictly to overtake The X Factor on a Sunday. At the moment I think 'No', but something at the very back of my mind says 'Yes'.

It being a Sunday I would have thought Songs Of Praise would be in there somewhere given the number of people who whinged to the BBC last time CD was on a sunday and SOP was on BBC2 or something.

Didn't rate very well in the end, did it?

If anyone puts this in a Top 20 of the year, I won't be responsible for my actions!

More classic programming from Channel 5 in the run up to Christmas...

Saturday 10th December
9pm: Tommy Cooper's Christmas
10pm: The Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show

Both been on before but well worth further showings.

Meanwhile Channel 4 have a massive night planned later in the week:

Tuesday 13th December
9pm: My Big Fat Gypsy Christmas (New)
10pm: This is England '88 (New Series)

I think, looking at the ITV1 opposition, Channel 4 could prove to be the top rated commercial channel that night.

It got a 'massive' 9.645m with HD - thankfully that will be too low for the Top 20 even if we let it go in.

Will do very well for C5, wouldnt be surprised to see 2m+ figures.

C4 in potentially good scheduling shocker!

I guess that night will pay the bills over Christmas fortnight.

It's also been confirmed this evening that Strictly (6:30pm-8:15pm) will clash for 15 minutes with The X Factor Final (8pm-10pm).

I don't think it will because they've lost Russell and therefore I think some momentum will be lost with it. Saying that, the way The X Factor is losing viewers, Strictly's final could top the year unless Simon returns. And what will they do if Simon does return and the show doesn't see much of a boost...?

Relatively speaking it was a very bad night for The X Factor but I guess last week's results show was a perfect storm of good guests, the hype behind the power cut, Amelia's return, a strong bottom two... still no excuse though, it shouldn't be losing 700,000 viewers. It was only 310,00 ahead of Strictly Come Dancing's performance show excluding plus one. For most shows the figures would be superb but it's a bit of a nightmare for Syco and ITV considering how well last year's show rated.

I'm A Celebrity didn't even manage to hit 10m despite a 11.8m lead in which'll be a slight disappointment to the channel as well.

I expected Strictly to drop viewers on the Saturday show but it still recorded an excellent figure. I think it may lose a bit of momentum now without the Grant factor but we'll see. Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow performed very well yet again while Garrow's law recorded a decent figure.

Yet again, the family film did well with Grease picking up a good rating on Channel 4, and yet again River Cottage Veg didn't benefit from the strong start to the evening. Secret Millionnaire found itself being squeezed out somewhat. Channel 5 had a decent night with the films bringing in a reasonable number of viewers. BBC Two had an ok evening but didn't really take off until Match Of TheDay 2 at 10pm.

I dont understand why they can clash on Saturday when its easily avoidable but on Sunday, Strictly is moved 30 mins earlier specifically to avoid any clash.

I guess BBC One think the live show will hold up much better with a 90 minute build up than a recorded results show which would be starting at the same time.

The stench of formaldehyde is strong, though. AbFab was looking incredibly tired when it was revived --- clear! charging! forty! --- and that's the best part of ten years ago.

It was embarrassing enough trying to explain why the thirty-ish (and looking it) Julia Sawalha didn't just get a job to avoid hanging around with these ageing lushes, and she's now forty-three. Jane Horrock's winsomeness was undignified in her thirties and she's now forty-seven. Anyone who remembers it with affection is also ten or fifteen years old than when they watched it regularly, and for anyone under twenty it's that program about old people that your parents always say isn't as good as it used to be.

I could just about see why AbFab was funny to some, although I didn't actually find it funny --- it appeared to be a Fast Show sketch stretched out to episode length. But reviving it (along with a David Jason vehicle, as though it's 1982 all over again) shows the BBC don't have an excess of new ideas. And when the BBC run out of ideas the "who used to be funny in the 1980s" policy is restarted.

And we are surprized the show doesn't get any publicity.

For the first time Series 4 fell below Series 3 (6.72m vs 6.82m), but episode 8 can take back the lead with a similar (1.3m+) timeshift.

Think the BBC Christmas looks awesome this year - absolutely packed to bursting! Loads of things which I'm really looking forward to, just hope the schedules do the programmes justice.

Think I'm right in saying programme information will be out tomorrow, with the first draft of schedules out Wednesday and the final schedules released next Tuesday.

Also this is a sneak preview (still picture) of this year's BBC One Christmas ident: http://instagr.am/p/VDJt7/ Certainly leaves you guessing as to what the full ident will be like....

In other news, Russell Grant is in talks for new BBC1 job: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2011-...r-new-bbc1-job

as much as I hate to say it, the Top 20 will be worthless if we start to fiddle so certain shows are not included.

Expecting VERY provisional listings on Tuesday & Wednesday.

As for my late night posts, I am retiring early tonight, catch up on some much needed beauty sleep.

l think that ident link might just be someone taking the piss. Quite amusing actually.

There was a thread some weeks ago saying BBC1 are reusing last years ident and "Snowball" from a few years ago to avoid allegations of opulence from the Daily Mail....

Who will no doubt now add the recycled idents to it's annual list of Christmas "repeats"...

Now James that would be the ideal schedule for ITV as it would give them clear reign at 9pm for Downton.

If EE is 2 x 40 then I would bet money on The BBC not having a clear 9pm junction.
They're definately not going to run all their programmes from 5.40 to 9 at odd times just to have everything back on the hour at 9 to hand over to Downton Abbey.
I can see EE running from 6.00-6.40 and 8.40 to 9.20.

We always exclude duplicates in our own superior version to the official list, this wouldn't be any different in my view.

In which case ITV's soaps will air at 6.40 and 7.40 with DA at 8.40.

For whatever reason, ITV always outwit the Beeb with last minute rewrites when they have something big to put out there.

You might be right about taking the piss..... think there will be a new one tho - it's been confirmed by this actor on DS http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/member.php?u=465172
http://www.starnow.co.uk/johnduggan1

He's revealed the idents have carol singers, snowmen, snowballs and sleighs, were recorded in mid October and feature celebrities including Bruce Forsyth and Graham Norton.
