or between ITV2 and Sky 1 and BBC2 arguably.

these awards are usually decided based on innovation, capturing the publics imagination, re-invigoration of the channels output, etc.

I'd say based on Sky News excellent coverage of Libya and economics and business that it could be in with a chance.

rather a cheap shot at Alex Crawford who was almost killed in March in Zawiya for trying to tell the world what was really happening in Libya

HBO own Cinemax. That's why it's called HBO Cinemax in the article.

Are these the same awards that last year declared ITV1 to be ''Terrestrial channel of the year'' much to the amusement of people in the industry ? I thought there was a separate award for news channels (or am I thinking of some other awards ceremony).

Sky News have had a good year news wise and seem to have acquired a lot of praise for coverage of the events. It is about time the snobbery went out the window and realise that the BBC is the be all and end all of news.

For people that keep incorrectly saying HBO & Cinemax are separate companies. They're not. HBO & Cinemax are the same company!!

Looks like they want to ditch their Skinemax title as well.

Indeed.

HBO & Cinemax might have different programmes as channels, but they are still the same comppany. The same way Disney & Miramax were when part of the same company.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! looks low, and is it just me or is Transexual Summer on C4 every day? Death in Paradise held up better than Young Apprentice.

H&A near the million mark again! It seems to be closing the gap on Neighbours a bit. Last night's episode was a good one.

I think ITV will be disappointed to lose by that much in the primetime shares last night when they had IAC. It didn't help the rest of their Tuesday primetime whatsoever with a dreadful figure recorded for High Stakes. And Death in Paradise continued its very good numbers, barely affected by IAC at all.

Big drop for Jamie on Channel 4.

You're in good company. The average prediction for Jamie was 1.7m, lowest 1.3m.

I'm glad Death In Paradise didn't go below the 4m mark against I'm A Celebrity.I do enjoy that show. Looking at Sara Martins helps too!

Last year's equivalent episode had 9.3m in the overnights, so it's definitely now settled down at a lower level than last year. Last year was quite a bumper year for IAC though. Having looked back at previous ratings, yesterday's rating (inc +1) was up from the equivalent rating two years ago (7.82m) and also higher than the equivalent episode ratings between Autumn 2004-2008. So the 2nd highest 2nd Tuesday rating since 2004 isn't too bad, although I appreciate we're now more used to seeing IAC above that 8m mark (exc +1). Seems like quite a lot of people are using the +1 option with IAC this series and this has possibly meant the raw ITV1 (exc +1) overnight is a bit lower than where it would've been if there was no +1 option available like previous years. It should rebound back up to around 8.5m (inc +1) tomorrow night with the Corrie lead-in.

Under 30% is unusual for I'm a Celebrity but it should rebound as rzt says on Thursday. Not really an issue for them though to be honest, it's higher than anything else in the 9pm slot that they would air there.

More 'tosh' from someone who doesn't understand ratings!!

“Bleakely and co-presenter Adrian Chiles were famously poached from their BBC One prime time show, The One Show back in 2010 when the ITV decided to revamp their iconic GMTV format. With the restructure of the show and its presenters came a dip in viewing figures to 700,000, a fraction of the 13million that GMTV, which had been on air since 1993, claimed to have peaked at.”

Death in Paradise should be good for another series and ought to be recommissioned. It's going to end up with a consolidated series average of about 5.5-6.0m, higher than nearly all other new BBC1 drama series this year, despite facing the toughest competition out of the lot. I imagine it's quite a repeatable-friendly drama too, so if BBC1 rerun a few episodes sometime next year, it could introduce some new viewers to the show. And then if they schedule series 2 next Autumn one month earlier, so it avoids the likes of IAC, its audience could be even bigger next time.

If Reggie was to co-present, why didn't they give Fearne the main gig? After all, her and Reggie have partnered for years on and off on BBC television and radio and have a proven chemistry that works for a young audience.
