Huh? It's a ratings thread, therefore we comment on the ratings which a programme received. How else would you have liked me to put it- and I'm being genuine when I ask that.

The Sun quoted "a BBC spokesman" who apparently said they were sorry to be missing out on the Royles this year, but c'est la vie.

I accept "a spokesman" is usually more official than "a source".

But possibly trumped by a leading cast member saying it's going ahead...!

To be fair, the BBC never confirmed there was going to be one. It was Craig Cash who said it was back in July.

I think the Royle Family has reached the point where it is assumed that there will be one until we're told otherwise.

And if Sue Johnston says its going ahead then I'm inclined to think it must be, as surely they'd have filming dates etc by now?

News at Ten had a much bigger inheritance than the BBC's 10 o'clock news last night, but still got hammered as usual.

If you're going to fly the flag for ITV, you should choose a better example.

No cold turkey, according to the BBC One controller at the Edinburgh TV Festival, EastEnders will be on during the Olympics.

I don't think it's anything sinister. It's just a case of BBC One having under-commissioned for Saturday nights this autumn. They've got SCD, Casualty, Merlin, and the (10-min) lottery draws, but bog all else, so they're scratching around for repeats and/or compilations for early evenings.

ITV shot themselves in the foot with the eighteen months of Emmerdale hour-longs, though, because they impeded their own soap's ratings in the process. 32% shares on non-clash nights then, have now risen to 34% shares.

BBC News at Ten regularly makes the top 30 BBC1 shows.

ITV1 in comparison rarely does well, last night BBC1 news increaded lead- in by 0.5m - ITV1 News went down 3.3m from its lead-in.

Junior Apprentice seems low, anyone else thing they won't bother doing it again after this series?

The problem is that there is nothing special about JA, it is near identical, the tasks are the same, the arguments are the same, so basically it is a lower key version of the same show.

I think you'd definitely be right if it would be entirely ITV's decision whether to carry on or not, and you may be right anyway, but we never know what goes on in Cowell's mind. I always thought he'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming away from the UK version in about ten years' time, but I was wrong.

As soon as a realistic opportunity of an American version came along, he was out of the door and on a plane like a shot.

I'm still surprised at how easily he has almost entirely walked away from UK screens.

Who mentioned BBC News? I was talking about the performance of ITV News in relation to it's own average.

they cant be happy, things going from bad to worse for X-Factor.

The M&S advert should be a good get for the show / contestants, but with this mistake its only going to shine the spotlight where its not wanted, for longer than is ideal.

I know some here will say X-Factor wants the headlines, but M&S dont, the coded "hes broken one of the golden rules" tells us they dont want us looking into detail on this one. With M&S involved now, this may be unavoidable.

This would never have happened under Simon Cowell.

ITV1 News at Ten does get a boost with a big news story - it just is not the force it once was. Maybe some of The Jury viewers stuck around for the opening headlines - giving it a much needed increase.
