Yes, its hard to find a better example than Big Brother of poor casting & bad planning. Older people watch more tv than young people but its people with characters that people want to watch regardless of age. Whilst I would have cast one or two younger people, the evidence from past series is that they generally arent very interesting and dont build interest from the public. Maybe one or two are necessary to balance the more interesting characters.
From the previous years of IACGMOOH, the big audience builders have been Jan Leeming, Jenni Bond, Carol Thatcher, Tony Blackburn. Stacey Solomon last year was a bit of an exception really.
Incidentally they only announced 10 people today versus 13 for last year - although 3 entered on day 3 last year so there are probably more cast yet to be revealed.
