Yes, its hard to find a better example than Big Brother of poor casting & bad planning. Older people watch more tv than young people but its people with characters that people want to watch regardless of age. Whilst I would have cast one or two younger people, the evidence from past series is that they generally arent very interesting and dont build interest from the public. Maybe one or two are necessary to balance the more interesting characters.

From the previous years of IACGMOOH, the big audience builders have been Jan Leeming, Jenni Bond, Carol Thatcher, Tony Blackburn. Stacey Solomon last year was a bit of an exception really.

Incidentally they only announced 10 people today versus 13 for last year - although 3 entered on day 3 last year so there are probably more cast yet to be revealed.

Danny or Tom will appear on Celebrity Big Brother in January, no doubt.

This thread has turned into a generic ITV bashing thread again I see, which I expect it will continue to be for the next 3 weeks as the usual suspects think of various statistics to declare that I'm a Celeb isn't doing very well, even if it gets 20 million!

The line up of I'm a Celeb is always at this type of level, remember Gillain McKeith was hardly A list. Hearing Charnham saying that he isn't going to watch every few posts is pretty boring.

The line up has potential, but as a younger viewer I am put off by the amount of oldies and I bet I will not be alone. I hope they introduce 2 younger contestants soon into the show soon. Introducing Imogen Thomas and Louie Spence would do good business.

Mark Wright and Dougie McFly are quite big names for the younger demogrpahics so that will be a draw, and I can see Anthony Cotton bringing in alot of viewers from Coronation Street given he is popular outside of this forum!

Freddie, Chrissy, Lorraine, Anthony, Jessica and Mark will be where the 'moments' and 'personalities' come from I bet, it will just be a matter of whether people want to tune in to watch it.

I'm pretty sure people slag off the IAC line-up every single year when it's first revealed - "no big names", "looks boring", "I'm not watching this year" etc.

I wouldn't be too sure, we've seen with The Voice that money is no object when it comes to prime time and they always make a point of saying that prime time will be ringfenced. They'd just close down a few Local Radio stations to pay for it!

It's good news that Takeaway is back, it's had a long enough gap which will mean that even some of the tired ideas will seem fresh. I also hope that Ant v Dec is a single game and not teams again. Recent series involved about 20 celebs per programme, umpteen during Ant v Dec, another half a dozen during Win the Ads, a few appearing in other sketches, performing etc.

There are no new ideas in Saturday night TV. TXF & SCD are getting on for a decade old, Casualty has been going decades, Doctor Who since practically the beginning of TV, Family Fortunes isn't new, etc etc!

I hate to say it, but you are are right, that does happen.

Every single year, and I can guarantee in a week or two, certain parts of this forum will be getting excited at the prospect of Chrissy Rock eating jungle critters as if it was the first ever series!

Ant and Dec make it worth watching anyway to a certain extent with their witty commentary. I gave up mostly because it's such a big commitment over the 3 weeks or so it's on and because it feels like the same thing every year to a certain extent with the repetitive trials.

As much as I've enjoyed Big Brother (and I really do mean that), I'm quite looking forward to being less tied to the TV from this weekend onwards.

Few changes vs last week. Raising Hope down 16% to a 2.1 season low (although it won its slot in A18-34). NCIS topped 20m for the first time this season.

In the y-o-y figures, ABC's decline was almost entirely due to the 20% decline for Dancing With The Stars at 9pm. CBS was up two tenths at 8pm, down a tenth at 9pm and up two tenths at 10pm (where Unforgettable has replaced The Good Wife).

FOX's decline doesn't look awful but it masks some far more erratic swings - the 9pm comedy hour was up 44% from the same night last year. Glee was down over 30%.

One interesting clash tonight - The X Factor performance show is head-to-head with the Country Music Association Awards. That could knock both shows but the CMA's ought to come out on top - last year they had 16.5m (4.7).

I think Raising Hope is a goner, while Glee is on thin ice, the baseball hiatus has hurt both it and New Girl.

As for NCIS, the show continues to defies expectations for a show in its 9th season. Do think once Mark Harmon or any cast member leave there will be a decline but the cast and CBS seem happy with the show.
