As things stand I suspect Raising Hope might get a safety net renewal similar to what Fox did with Breaking In this season. Although obviously that'll depend on how I Hate My Teenage Daughter and Breaking In do and what Fox plans to do in terms of a comedy block next season. Personally I think they might be better off holding Glee until midseason next year and trying a two-hour comedy block in the Fall.


It is somewhat astonishing just how much syndication (particularly on USA) has helped NCIS.

For the first time the week Channel 5 did not screen an inappropriately timed trailer for Tamara Eccelstone: Billion $$ Girl during the commercial break of Lost Heroes Of World War One.

Although they did have a trailer for Big Brother: "Tonight at 10pm". Which, of course, it isn't. D'oh! I think there's a fair chance Big Brother will hit a series low tonight if not even Channel 5 know it's been rescheduled (opposite Frozen Planet to boot.).

Meanwhile over on The Vault (Sky ch 366) they're still showing the M&S advert with Frankie Cococainzz in (or whatever his name is). D'oh again!

I've surprised they haven't demanded for half an hour airtime on ITV1 tomorrow at 7:30pm or Friday at 8pm for the four to perform. Low key, no audience or judges just Dermot introducing, just 4 x 3 minutes singing, commercial half way through, intro/outro with phone numbers, jobs a good'un... isn't it?

They really had no choice - they didn't have enough contestants left to stretch the show out to the final and they couldn't bring back anyone that had left as the result of a public vote.

They've made the best of a bad situation.

They'll be regretting that double elimination now - it left them with no wiggle room should anything like Frankie's departure happen.

I'm not sure there is much point in a mid-week show - it would be thrown together and getting the word out that it is on would be too difficult.

No such thing as bad publicity - well there is, but this isn't an example.

Should not affect ratings on Saturday - at least he hasn't done a Frankie (who knows anyone age 18 called Frank?)

I actually think The Jury will timeshift better than Death in Paradise - but it will be close, DIP did timeshift 1.03m on episode one. WWTBAM seems pretty slow tonight, CT droning on as ever instead of fundraising. The Jury tonight may drop below 4m, Frozen Planet surely cannot beat last week.

Can't blame Ant and Dec for taking the money, as they wouldn't get that kind of money elsewhere because no other broadcaster would offer them anywhere near as many hours of telly per year.

I know I've said they should try some new things on telly, but I'm not convinced they have the appetite to experiment or diversify anymore. They've spent ten years or so trundling along doing the same sort of stuff, so I doubt they'll change now.

Those people backing Amelia Lily at 500/1 or whatever she was at the weekend looking good now.

Not sure about this - I'd have gone for one act from each category of all eliminated acts (there is nothing stopping them - the viewers haven't voted any act out). Makes more sense to give The Risk a shot than Two Shoes.

(More than 1 of us have said the worst thing they did this series, apart from the usual laughing at the mentally inadequate, was when Kelly didn't take Amelia to the final 12).
I won't watch it, but I can see a boost coming this weekend.

I would like to know the cost per viewer yield of Ant' n' Dec - by that I mean take two funny presenters, Alan Carr & Harry Hill - let them co-host IAC - would ratings drop by 2m? 4m? or would ratings be unaffected? I guarantee one thing - it would be funny for the first time ever.

I am guessing the rather distasteful C4 programme entitled 'The Man Who Killed Michael Jackson' on Thursday night was hastily renamed following the guilty verdict. Was it previously 'The Man Who May Have Killed Michael Jackson'? Hoping that Life's Too Short rates very well tomorrow - although I think a lot of viewers will timeshift it.

As soon as they start touching acts that have been under a public vote it gets toxic - "I paid to vote these people out, why should they come back", etc, etc - not that they directly voted anyone out, but they did indirectly.

I'm stacking up on DVDs, I'm over at my partner's for five days and when the conversation at work turns to IAC, I shall close my ears. I don't like it, but I know it will get anything from 7 to 10 million viewers and slagging it off is pointless as from a ratings point of view, it does well. Will take an interest in the show's ratings, but it's not by bag and pointless making comments about it as I don't watch.

I don't see you complaining when BBC shows are being attacked pet.

Clash of the documentaries on Wednesday 30th November at 7:30pm - That's Britain! (BBC1) and Super Tiny Animals (ITV1). And if I'm to be honest... both sound awful.

What are they both about?

I hadn't realised Waterloo Road was finishing for a bit after next week. I still feel like I am starting to get into this series and it's practically over. I suppose when you bring in all new characters all the time, this is the problem.

I'm not sure what else they could do? The only thing I can think of is a sitcom. But it would be so tricky and risky. They'd basically have to play themselves because nobody would accept them in any other role now. I think Ellen Degeneres kind of did that in the 90's and it worked OK.

In terms of presenting, I don't think it's really their fault. They can only present what is put in front of them and I think I'd be right in saying that they presented the highest rated new entertainment series this year? At least on ITV. The fact that that show was Red or Black says more about the struggle for new entertainment hits than it does about Ant & Dec, IMO.


I think they just want Amelia back, tbh. And I'd agree! I quite like this idea, tbh. It might fall flat at the weekend, of course. But it's far better than just bringing back Johnny or The Risk.

And they should let her choose her mentor (and by "let her choose", I mean "tell her that she needs to pick Tulisa as her mentor").

Sounds like a cuddly, friendly, less demented BBC version of the single worst 'entertainment' format ever inflicted on British TV (minus the fella with a goatee and a massive ego)...

That's odd considering they have been promotion for Paul Merton's new timeslot so maybe they're trying to boost Merton's show although if Merton gets 1.4m or so, the switch will have paid off.


I think if it is renewed, I'd save it for midseason. A two hour comedy block could work, I do like the idea holding back Glee until January.

NCIS' syndication on USA has worked wonder, could see Modern Family get a similar boost when it enters syndication. The Big Bang Theory seems to be doing well for TBS while The Mentalist may prove to be an expensive writeoff.
