Way to lose even more viewers than they already have. Really, the last thing they needed at this stage.

It just seems to be one thing after another with this series.

This is a huge disaster for ITV. Merlin is going to get a big boost tonight and maybe beat X Factor

XF made it to air at 8.30

Suggestion on Twitter is that there were issues at the BT Tower.

Starting for proper now.

So it finally started, 15 minutes late. If it was down to difficulties at the BT Tower then there was nothing they could have done, but I suspect heads will roll...

I wonder how this will affect the ratings tonight. Is there really any need for any of this recap they should just get on with the show

I wonder how the power cut will affect the ratings? I gues it depends on whether the ratings are adjusted for the new slot, but even if they are I suspect it'll have knocked a good million off the average.

This will be tommorow's argument here then, do you count The X Factor's rating as starting at 8:15 or at 8:30. We all know which each person will prefer, especially if Strictly rates in between the two averages!

Did I not say that Saturday's ratings was the most exciting and interesting of the week (alongside Sunday)?

But I bet we won't see any overnights for tonight until Monday.

This is the kind of thing this thread was made for!

That would be the ratings shock of the year, but will not happen - Merlin will be 2m behind TXF when figures are out tomorrow.

I highly doubt it - indeed I suspect people will stay tuned trying to find out what's going on.

Thankfully for the RPG, TXF is only a minor back-up this week.

More likely a BT problem as ITV2/3/4HD and at least one ITV1 HD region off air.

Heh. More material guaranteed then for Lord Sugar on Twitter in his war of words with Morgan tomorrow.

The warm-up guy for X Factor tweeted that just before they were due to go to air they lost communication with BT Tower and therefore couldn't go live. I imagine some less than pleasant words between the BT and ITV right now.

The ratings could go either way. Are people going to stick with it and tell others that something strange is going on and should tune in (I got a fair few texts about it)? Or will people think "no thanks" and leave it?

What do BT provide for ITV? Apart from phone lines for TXF? (surely even they should be from TalkTalk)

That's a good point - although I guess considering we talk about "timechecked" ratings it's from 8.30pm. Would be funny though if the rating peaks before the show began.

A technical hitch on the BBC always seems to be considered just that - but when it's on ITV it's a "farce" and they should be stripped of their licence.
