Channel 4's problem is that I think their drama series just seem to use the same template as Teachers, No Angels and Shameless. Their single and one-off dramas are fine but series wise, if all you have is an aging drama like Shameless, it's not good. Maybe they should consider commioning drama that is aimed at a wider audience that could air at 9pm.
Channel 5's safest bet would be a crime drama, I think doing a series of pilots would engage what could be a potential series.
