It's Young Apprentice which is the glorified children's programme. It's a vanity project by Alan Sugar and it should be on BBC3 (though I like it)

Excellent rating for the jungle, I think it is on to another excellent year and this show really is the guvnor of reality. Not so much fun for Freddie Starr, though.

And well done ITV in continuing the 'profanity free' policy.

DS... I think you'll find that every other I'm a Celebrity series has shed viewers after the first night. It's quite normal.

What isn't normal is the extremely high +1 number, which makes me wonder... could we end up seeing a record +1 rating on Wednesday?

Looking at that proposed schedule I think you have a bit of a cheek calling ITV dull and unexciting when our other national broadcaster foists 1hr and 20 mins. of depressing SadEnders on us, 1hr. of a comedy about a layabout and family of dossers, oh and 30 minutes about someone if you're interested in Royalty. Yipee.

Yes, compared to some of the foul mouthed episodes of BB, IAC is a oerfectly safe show for families to watch. Its mix of celebs for all ages, likeable hosts, and challenges have made the show such a hit.
Boo hiss to the BBC for providing such an unoriginal alternative of two reality type shows that were beaten by IAC.

The Royal Bodyguard is a comedy, by the way, with David Jason. It sounds quite good.

Agree that the rest of that proposed schedule is pretty uninspired though.

The record +1 overnight rating is 1.04m (5.7%) for an episode of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings. I don't think it will manage that as I'm a Celeb starts at 8:30pm on Wednesday rather than 9pm. I suspect that with Frozen Planet starting well after IAC does and with only around 3m watching the Impressions show beforehand, that Frozen Planet will be dented more than IAC. Unless they attract totally different audiences.

It seems it was Johnny Rotten's 'C' word that reversed the tide. Up to then it was littered with the 'F' word.

The Apprentice, also changed for the better, too.

EE and Corrie not doing particularly well for a November Monday, IAC did very well to beat the 2 big soaps though. Nice to see new episodes of The Simpsons are doing well on Channel 4 - their top rated show of the day too.

I take it being a TV ratings thead nobody listens to the Radio heh. Yesterday afternoon on Radio 5 Ralf Little said that there definitely wouldn't be a Royle Family ep on christmas day this year. He said an ep was being written but for reasons he didn't know it failed to be completed on time, he also thought there might be ep in the future but didn't know for certain, he also thought writing Christmas Ep every year must be hard and limiting.

Big Brother doesn't pretend to be a family show. The whole idea is to see the housemates warts and all. It's also introduced as such, with warnings of adult themes and strong language before the programme.

IAC is definitely more family friendly. But it is presented by Ant and Dec, so it's what you expect.

That's a rather beefy rating for The Simpsons, nice to see Hollyoaks still performing very well.

The point is for its first few seasons it was like BB with the foul language, yet there were pre-watershed back up programmes that made it into a family show.

Big Brother's Little Brother was also guilty of this.

I wish we could have an official statement on the issue. It's not as if the Beeb can be trying to keep ITV in the dark, given ITV actually makes the show for them...

On balance, I would say it probably isn't happening though. Sounds like Sue Johnstone was either in the dark when she spoke to Titchmarsh, or it was recorded before they pulled the plug.

A shame. And it clears the way for Downton to clean up too if ITV wants ratings glory rather than ad revenue - BBC1 has little to offer, other than EE.

Why on earth would "ratings glory" be better than making actual money? If they show DA on Xmas day, they've completely lost the plot.

Ralf Little hasn't been in all the recent Christmas episodes, so perhaps he wouldn't know, if he's not in this year's?

@Lord_Sugar when you say you 'build an audience', I think you mean 'destroy an audience' - right? Or is 3.2m and 25% drop a 'success' ?

piersmorgan Piers Morgan
@Lord_Sugar To be fair, the audience did 'build' last night - once you came off air. Apprentice got 3.2m at 9pm, BBC1 News 4m at 10pm.

This Morgan/Sugar thing is bizarre, I know Piers Morgan is immature but I would have thought Sugar was above all this kind of juvenile stuff.

Another really strong audience for IAC up y-o-y again which is very good. It was a strong show too. Hopefully it can keep it up. Surprised at how high the +1 audience is when ITV's other big shows like Corrie and XF don't manage a +1 anywhere near that.

I can't believe how high Emmerdale is too-it really shouldn't be that high considering how awful the storylines are atm. It appears though apart from DS, everyone is enjoying it.

Pleasing to see IAC not really denting The Hotel Inspector as it was a very good episode last night and it's really picked up in the last couple of weeks. Is next weeks definitely Alex's last?

Young Apprentice seemed to be hit the most. Will be interesting to see how Frozen Planet holds up-I'd take a guess at around 5.5m for it and around 8.5/9m for IAC. That depends if ITV viewers can find it after A&D slipped up saying they're on air tonight, before correcting themselves. Then the ITV announcer said IAC returns at 9 on Wednesday and not correcting herself.
