Well, quite an evening of talking points on the Ratings Thread tonight.
Firstly, quite a coup for the Beeb to land Willoughbooby for their TXF rip off. Perhaps the start of a fruitful new relationship for the pair?
(HW and the BBC, I mean...

)
I don't think it will transform The Voice into a surefire winner, but the evidence so far does suggest the Beeb are doing everything to make this a success.
It does have implications for DOI. HW was surely a good enough reason (or two...) for blokes to tune in to it. With Bleakley on board, it might be an excuse to not sit through it even the missus wants to watch. I can see the ratings for DOI suffering with Bleakley on board. It's not as if she has a good record since quitting the BBC.
Talking of which....

Poor quality reporting. It says they've been axed "over ratings flop".
Surely it should be flop
s - they've had several each since quitting the BBC in a blaze of, er, glory.
In fairness to them, it's the show that was the clunker not them. I would put money on "GMTV" coming back in January, pretty much as it was.

Not unexpected. The advertisers would be mugs if they paid the over-the-odds, inflated rates ITV is trying to foist on them. TXF has lost 20% of its audience - so a 15% reduction in ad rates seems more than fair.
As for CIN, didn't see very much of it at all. I do wonder if the Beeb will come to regret the One Show/main show split. I suspect many folk will have thought "CIN tonight" and tuned in at 7pm - only to find TOS, and switched to the ITV soapathon instead. Losing that first half an hour, presumably on costs saving grounds???, may turn out a mistake if it damaged BBC1 for the night. It also meant CIN went head to head with the start of Corrie.
Although the balance of the CIN/soap clash is smaller this year (1 hour of a 2.5 hr show as opposed to 1.5 hrs of a 3 hr one), I still think the ratings will be down on last year. Also, if people are feeling downbeat about the economy, I wonder if a charity beg-athon is what they want to tune in for.
