Not sure about that, donations in 2009 and particularly 2010 were down quite a bit.

I think maybe the people at Children in Need just did a bit of refocusing and made sure enough money was coming in advance.

Comic Relief does tend to bring in more money but CIN does do well in terms of fundraising like the CIN Rocks, I bet if CR did either a concert or even better a stand up event at the O2 or the Hammersmith Apollo, it would generate a lot of money.

I'm not so keen on the texting for £5, think more people would do it if it was £1.50-2.

Well if we're to take 15% off last year's final figures:

19:30- The X Factor Final: 17.15m (54.92%)
* peak: 19.44m (60.48%) at 21:20

And we get: 14.58m (46.7%) and a peak of 16.50m (51.4%).

(HW and the BBC, I mean... )

I don't think it will transform The Voice into a surefire winner, but the evidence so far does suggest the Beeb are doing everything to make this a success.

It does have implications for DOI. HW was surely a good enough reason (or two...) for blokes to tune in to it. With Bleakley on board, it might be an excuse to not sit through it even the missus wants to watch. I can see the ratings for DOI suffering with Bleakley on board. It's not as if she has a good record since quitting the BBC.

Talking of which....

Poor quality reporting. It says they've been axed "over ratings flop".

Surely it should be flops - they've had several each since quitting the BBC in a blaze of, er, glory.

In fairness to them, it's the show that was the clunker not them. I would put money on "GMTV" coming back in January, pretty much as it was.

Not unexpected. The advertisers would be mugs if they paid the over-the-odds, inflated rates ITV is trying to foist on them. TXF has lost 20% of its audience - so a 15% reduction in ad rates seems more than fair.

As for CIN, didn't see very much of it at all. I do wonder if the Beeb will come to regret the One Show/main show split. I suspect many folk will have thought "CIN tonight" and tuned in at 7pm - only to find TOS, and switched to the ITV soapathon instead. Losing that first half an hour, presumably on costs saving grounds???, may turn out a mistake if it damaged BBC1 for the night. It also meant CIN went head to head with the start of Corrie.
Although the balance of the CIN/soap clash is smaller this year (1 hour of a 2.5 hr show as opposed to 1.5 hrs of a 3 hr one), I still think the ratings will be down on last year. Also, if people are feeling downbeat about the economy, I wonder if a charity beg-athon is what they want to tune in for.”

Having seen all of the evening CIN segment I would not be surprised if it damages it for next year. No atmosphere in the studio(much too dark) with no interaction with the audience, loads of pregnant pauses, an almost austerity selection of supposed treats which mostly fell flat anyway.
Very disappointed tbh.

According to another thread, BBC1 has the sequel to The Gruffalo (The Gruffalo's Kid) on BBC1 this Christmas. I've seen this mentioned here yet, but surley this is going to be on Christmas Day as The Gruffalo was a huge hit.

CIN Rocks only raised £2.5m, including all those texts.

Comic Relief raised over £100m last appeal, so its not something that would make a huge impact.

The 2009 "Comic Relief does TOTP" was originally scheduled to be in The O2 in all the press releases, but was pulled for some reason.

The Gruffalo was shown at 5.30pm on Christmas Day 2009 and attracted 10m viewers in the officials (including HD) making it the 6th highest rated BBC1 programme of Christmas week and higher rated than everything on ITV1 that week.

Oh thanks rzt, I thought the figures in the Media Guardian were a bit dodgy, and it looks like they were.

The Children in Need rating for last night should be a tad higher that usual as it only ran from 19:30 to 22:00 for the main part, however I do hope the preceding One Show rating is reported too.

Quote:
“"Fast Freddie, the Widow and Me" will be shown on STV on Monday, December 26 at 9pm.”

Obviously that will apply for all the other ITV regions, which means if that doesn't change then Downton Abbey on Christmas Day could turn into a reality.

I'm sure the schedules will be writtern, torn-up and re-written a few times before they're release in a couple of weeks time. I still wouldn't rule out the 18th for Downton Abbey either.

Been a while since I updated this chart so I've added Night At The Museum 2 from way back in October. The drop-outs at the bottom are: Location, Location, Location, Britain's Fattest Man and Undercover Boss. Channel 4 now have 7 films in their top 20 of the year so far, compared to last year's 4 films by year end. I expect a couple more will rate well over the coming weeks leading up to Christmas too and there is the Christmas Gypsy Wedding show which could do 4million + as well

Channel 4 top programs of 2011 so far:

Last year's chart for comparison (there were no new entries after that post).

C4 and C4 +1 are overnight ratings, C4 official are from the Barb website.
All overnight ratings are averages for the full slot running time, rounded to 1 decimal place.
Shows are ranked in order of overnight ratings.
Each show only gets one mention in the list; spinoff Gypsy Wedding has a mention due to different title.

Pretty embarrassing for Chiles and Bleakley if the sacking story is true. If it happened 12 or maybe even 18 months after they started on Daybreak, they could spin it as a natural end to their contract, but no one signs a contract for 16 months.

18th would be ITV's best bet for ratings and the accompanying financial rewards.

The Saturday after XF finishes ?

Hmm, but wasn't it announced in June 2010? 18 months from then takes us to November 2011 - ie, now.
