I think you two may have missed that we are talking about a deliberate effort by the producers to find an arrogant obnoxious black woman and then edit her as such, not that black people arrogant and obnoxious.

I suppose starting a thread like this there will always be people who cry racist, I just hope you both try and read the comments for what they are rather than crying racist over a quick skim read in future.

Finally, I know she is from a poor background not because she is black (the first thing that crept into your head) but because she has mentioned it several times throughout the series.

The point of the post you quoted was to point out that there is a harmful trend in the casting of black women on reality TV. Very often producers select black women who come across as rude and aggressive. Of course there are rude, aggressive, unpleasant white women, but for every one of those (Jenny C) there's a white female counterpart who is the total opposite (Lucinda), giving white women a fairer representation.

To try to shut people up - and call them racists, no less - for pointing out that RTV shows represent black women unfairly a lot of the time is a bit contradictory for someone who seems to be anti-racism.

Actually, I did read the comments thoroughly. Referring to the embolden paragraph, there is a certain irony there where you mention "crying racist".....er hello..... isn't that exactly what you are doing?

You are pratically accusing producers of racism by claiming they're deliberately showing black females in a bad light which I beg to differ as all of the black females from since the 1st series have not been or portrayed as unpleasant or having bad attitudes, no moreso than other contestants.

I believe people like yourself are just looking at this subjectively and trying to make an issue out of something that is more likely non-existent.

I liked her and thought she was the scapegoat in that episode.

However, she speaks as if her nose is constantly blocked up and I just would like her to clear her tubes before she babbles away. She didnt deserve to go and I would have thought she had much more to give.

i am not sure where the "accent" comes from, but you hear it in so many young girls nowadays, both black and white.

Sorry, but It may well be your opinion about the producers but that is not proof that it really is the case & neither does it make it fact. As I said before all the black women who have appeared on The Apprentice have not been how some on here percieve them to be.

Perhaps not the whole thread, but some of the comments have racist overtones, for eg. one poster wrote:

If this appalling ignorant comment is not racist I don't know what is. So it is basically saying all the black females in T.A. have been like that which is utter codswallop. I have watched from the 1st series and it is NOT true at all.

People like that poster and the few that followed with similar comments will always have misguided preconceptions formed in their minds on certain groups and see what they want to see.
Tell me what what so nasty about Gbemi, Edna and previous others? They were no more worse than any other of the contestants, but for some reason black females are always singled out for scrutiny.

Well, she couldn't have been that bad as some are making out - you liked her! Gbemi has been misread and misunderstood. Just because she expressed dissatisfaction at the blonde boy's PM skills (who was too far up his own backside, imo) she is automatically branded rude and aggressive, like as if she is not entitled to express an opinion. but overall she was fine through her time on TA.

They were selected because they were seen to have something to qualify as a potential appprentice, which also includes being educated and intelligent.

The problem lies with the insular mindset of those who pigeon-hole black women as all the same on these shows, and try to hide behind it by saying it's the producers when it's clearly their attitude towards them.

Yes, I didn't get hung up on how she spoke other than that constant sound, as if she had a huge snot left to blow out.
