I thought it was marvellous. Dramatic, full of tension and as Craig said, it was quite erotic.

I got wood.

Well... She is "one of the BBC's own" and The One Show has seen an increase in ratings since she was joined by Matt Baker and I'm sure the BBC would like it to continue the trend.
SCD didn't do the BBC, The One Show or Christine Bleakley any harm last year.
BBC employees seem to do rather well in this competition, but of course, probably all down to their natural ability.

I really don't see that the scores this year are more generous, and I still maintain that Alex was in the right place on the leader-board. Does anybody really believe that any of those below her deserved to be higher placed?”

That that load of wafting scored higher than TIME WARP is history's greatest travesty and quite possibly the Day That Strictly Died.

Come on, Monkseal - the travesty is that virtually every dance in the history of Strictly scored higher than the fabulous Time Warp. Now remind me - where did it come in the Strictly World Cup of Dahnce?

I find all of Alex's and James dances boring. I expect more of the same this week but she will get 7's and 8's again to keep her from the bottom of the board. This will help her stay in longer and BBC hope this will have an affect on ratings of the one show. Think she is a terrible dancer and presenter

Is that another way of saying she danced like a plank?

He could also be trying to say that she is a wooden tv presenter, but he is obviously not watching for her ability to do her job or dance. Anyway, what is going on with all this hand movement in her dancing. They are obviously trying to distract us from looking at her feet. She is not dancing only waving her arms for the past few weeks

Way over-marked again, yes. 24 or thereabouts for me. I expect the same situation until she's voted out to be honest. BBC look after their own.

Yes she was. I think it was a reaction to last week. I don't think it will make any difference in the long run, she will probably go out in a few weeks as the others improve dramatically.

The marks were too high but the result on the leaderboard wasn't too misleading.

She was better than Lulu and the others. Not exactly hard. There is a bit of a gulf developing. It was a poor week for Russell sadly.

But I'm sure she got a rebound vote for the trauma of 'rumba' week. It's not going to amount to a hill of small beans. She won't get to the final.

frankly there is no consistency in the scoring

the judges should be required to rank the performances rather like in ice skating

I have to say I agree with all your post. I just can't warm to Alex - I find her voice and reactions shrill and her "poor me no confidence" routine, especially on ITT last night, is a little tiresome. And I do think she is cut a lot of slack compared with others.

For me, she and Audley add nothing. Audley may go Saturday (although I do like Natalie) but I can't see Alex going.

I like Alex and I thought her Viennese Waltz was beautiful and moving. But following the row over the Rhumba, I'm sensing the judges (especially Craig) are now walking on egg shells around James, and I don't like that.

I know some people said about is difficult to choreograph a great Paso with that song & theme, but Ana & Evan Lysacek on DWTS did a great Paso with the same song and theme.

The drama was created by the way she looked, the music and the choreography. She looked stunning, but her dancing wasn't good.

I'd forgotten just how good they were.
They knocked spots off Alex & James' attempt.

Nor me Sid- it was quite wrong IMO that they all kept going on about how upset she was and clearly marking her up to make her feel better.

None of the other contestants have had their feelings taken into consideration they are just marked!

It will be interesting to see what happens this week- altho they have the easy option of another in hold ballroom.

They're not.

Last year's average score was 29.36, this year's average is 28.27.

Which probably reflects the fact that there are three no-hopers left this time round, compared to only one last year.

(Also, astonishing to see that Nancy and Anton scored lower than Ann and Anton at the same stage last year )

It's not a real bingo entry if it's done ironically.

Damnit.

Alex Jones signed a new contract with the BBC in August - she earns £150,000 a year to do The One Show and Strictly. That's about £7,000 a month after tax etc. So I doubt the BBC wanted to see her exiting Strictly early on.
