North Korean pop music
Have you ever heard it? What do you think?
=== I personally love North Korean pop music, I really love the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble and the Unhasu Orchestra! |

Why are people suddenly obsessing over this recently?

I hope they are more capable at music than they are at developing a nuclear arsenal.

Yeah, I know K-pop quite well (hard to avoid it here!) but never heard any North Korean music.
Any links, OP? |

Any links, OP? "I went from North Korean rock to regular rock. You just change "Glorious Proletarian Leader" to "baby."

I absolutely love KPop and have for years but I've never heard of any bands coming out of the North. I can't imagine they would have much creative freedom which would probably make their music pretty awful.
It would be interesting to hear a sample of some of their music. |

It would be interesting to hear a sample of some of their music. secretly listen to non-NK music. After all, there were lots of Eastern Europeans who would secretly listen to Western music during the Iron Curtain era (Vaclav Havel was huge Beatles and Frank Zappa fan). In fact, I used know a girl from Croatia, who grew up in 1980s Yugoslavia. Her father would bring them over bootlegs of Kate Bush and Jethro Tull which they would secretly listen to. |

I do know that many North Koreans (especially the youth) secretly listen to South Korean music and watch S-Korean drama series and stuff. I think it's interesting to see what impact it would have in the near future.
