Totally, BUT did Kitty really express bigoted sentiments? I for one am not sure either way, how anyone can be is beyond me.

Absolutely. It's how people try and win arguments they are losing.

I see little support for Kitty being booted out of the chair. People are so biased.

Biased?

Because we don't believe in playing judge, jury and executioner based on peoples claims but would prefer to hold judgement until something is proven either way?

That's not being biased, what's being biased is claiming she is a racist and demanding she is removed because someone said so.

I said in another thread yesterday, if some guy came up to you and said "that guy over there is a paedo" and they responded and said "No I bloody well am not"...

Would you turn around and say "yes you are, he just said so" and then run around telling everyone he is a sex beast?

No of course you wouldn't. It's something normal, rational people don't do.

Am I the only one that DOES NOT CARE about the so called 'racism'?

I wasn't there. It didn't involve me. I don't care. Why is this of interest?

I don't care either. Why are people so upset about a tabloid story that probably does not contain substance anyway.

Don't you know it is absolutely fine to use racial slurs as long as you write a letter of apology afterwards?

I agree with you, If kitty did do what she is being accused of then without a doubt she should go and the fact that so many of you don't consider this as being racist nor offensive speaks volumes about the kind of people you are. I've never once, in a heated argument brought race into it or thought to, how anyone would and can still claim to not be prejudiced is beyond me.

But like i said that is IF she has done this. But i don't think we will ever know the truth anyways unless someone owns up to it which i very much doubt.

The source that this story has come from is Derry himself in a story to the Mirror. Kitty has categorically denied making the racist statement, but has admitted they had a tiff.

If - and it's a big if because it's his word against hers - she has said what is claimed then yes, she should leave. In the heat of the moment we all say things - of course we do. But it would NEVER EVER occur to me to make a comment based on the colour of someones skin. I might call them a noisy swine, or a totally evil bar steward, but as soon as you string the colour of a persons skin or their nationality or their religion into an insult, you are making a racially motivated comment....and that doesn't just come from nowhere, no matter how riled or upset you are!!!

If on the other hand it is a false allegation, then I believe that Derry should leave. So much work is done in this country to battle racism and prejudice, and break down cultural barriers and making false claims of racism belittles all the good work being done.

More than anything else, I think the X Factor producers need to be taken to task about this!! As I've said on another thread, they have allowed this situation to spiral into a farcical pantomime!! Either a young lady is having her good name besmirched for absolutely no reason, or a young man was racially abused while in their care and what have they done??? Jack all, but milked it for all it's worth!!! They have a duty of care towards the contestants and no matter what happened between Kitty and Derry, 1 of them has been seriously let down by the powers that be!!!!

A: Part of the problem.

How much credibility can you give the version of a story of a convicted criminal (Derry)?

So a person (and I'm not being person specific here, I'm being generic) calling someone else a '(insert colour / race / nationality) bastard' is something that should be 'tolerated' so as not to show 'intolerance'??? Really??? I find that absolutely staggering!!! I would rather be branded as 'intolerant of racially motivated comments and racism' than ever stand by and tolerate racially motivated insults!!

It either happened or it didn't...It's not for me to judge one way or the other, and I certainly don't base my opinion on the past of either of them!!

If there was no one else there no one has any proof or is this just the X Factor drumming up more publicity?

Oh I don't doubt the powers that be know exactly what happened....if you believe what the press say then it was another singer that reported the incident!! How true that is I don't know.....you really could give yourself a head ache trying to figure it all out to be honest!!!

Is this a serious comment here? Are you actually saying that we should tolerate racial abuse?

So basically we should be completely accepting of racial remarks/insults. Yes of course that is part of the solution.

Sometimes i can't believe what i am reading on this forum. If you feel its acceptable to be racist that is your right just as it is my right to say racial abuse of any kind is disgusting. I think those who are quick to defend racial remarks are only speaking volumes about their own prejudices.

Stupid and offensive - yes
Racist - no
Should Kitty be kicked off the show - no
Should Derry accept Kitty's apology - yes (maybe he has and I'm behind on the news?)”

But she did'nt say it, even he said he 'thought' she said it. There is alot more to this story than meets the eye. Personally, I think he has made it up. Why say he thought she said it, he either heard it or he did'nt. I have not heard anything about him accepting her apology, but he should apologise to her for having her painted as a racist,

1) she's not a racist... its a loads of blown out of proportion shit!

2) she is the best singer in the competition... so lets not do that.
