Last night I finally found my cell phone that I brought when I was in the USA this year, the only trouble is the service provider does not exist over here!!

Its an LG make and model, but the service provider is Net10 which is not available here in the UK

www.net10.com

Anyway, is it possible to change the phone over to a service provider in this country??

youd need to get it unlocked, most market stalls, independent shops and plenty of places online will do it.

Some American network providers don't provide or allow removable SIM cards, you may find the handset is locked to a US provider.

Net10 is a virtual network that uses the GSM system, which is the same as we have in the UK. The system being alluded to by Glomper is CDMA, where a phone has an ID built-in and can't be moved from network to network.

Most US phones are locked, but you should be able to test this by just popping a British SIM card into the phone and seeing what happens. It might work, but it's likely that you'll have to look around for unlocking services.

Posting the name of the model on here will help--someone should be able to tell you how to get it unlocked.

I brought it at a Best Buy store in Houston, TX, but theres a Best Buy near me in Southampton!! Will they be able to help me???
