I've created a thread about adoption process via Cats Protection, now i have adopted the cat i was after Evangeline, we brought her home last night. CP stated that she 'tolerated' other cats. Since we bought her home last night she has more or less stayed in one room and has rarely wondered out. She has occasionally step foot out of the room if we're about....mostly she will follow us into a different room. She hasn't ate anything at all since we brought her home, only a few nibbles very late last night. She is very affectionate and loves her cuddles. She doesn't seem the type at all to swipe at humans cause she's constantly rubbing her face against mine face. We kept her in a seperate room to my other 2 cats Shelly and Heidi last night and will do so for about a week. She has seen my other cats but only when they have been sleeping, they haven't really wandered about for her to see. Few times though when she seen Heidi or Shelly she growls slightly, watches them for a few mintues then runs away back to the room where she's been staying.
That's the only agression i've seen, she hasn't hissed or swiped but has growled several times at Heidi and Shelly. I always think to myself new cats will never settle in for the first week or so but then after several weeks i wonder what did i worry about. I am worrying a tad cause she ain't ate and has growled at my cats. She doesn't seem scared but very sudden sharp movements will make her step back.
I have had cats for years and introducing new cats to old never seem a problem really, it was only the 1st few weeks. Maybe she is very nervous and apprehensive of other cats. At her foster home she did live with other cats but the fosterer told me she kept them seperate so it seems she's never had direct contact with other cats.
Any advice?? Did you have similar problems...
(also, my cat Heidi hasn't come home this morning. She seemed ok with Evangeline lastnight, she just carried on sleeping. But normally she comes home for breakfest and i haven't seen her yet since late last night. Could this be a conicedance.... or new cat comes and so old wonders off??? It's just weird that she hasn't come home and at same time we adopt a new cat???? Do you think that could cause her to wonder, will she come back...???)
