She's right if she said that. What goes on backstage should stay (and be dealt with) backstage. It's a pity older (and supposedly more mature) people on the judging panel don't get that.

It baffles me that people seem to think that X-factor contestants should magically be relaxed and confident in interviews from the first time they step in front of the camera. None of them have any prior experience of doing interviews on live TV and a number of them are young (Misha, Janet, Frankie, members of Little Mix...in fact only the over 25s are, to my knowledge, over 25)! Hopefully, with time it will become easier for them as they get used to the interview process, but I do think it's a bit harsh to be judging them based on how they handle interviews at this stage.

I find it annoying too. If someone asks me something, I try to answer promptly and clearly. Making people wait for you to come forth with a single syllable answer is just rude.

How many times have you been interviewed on TV? Just asking.

People do talks and get interviewed in all sorts of stressful situations without being on TV. It's decent manners to reply to people promptly, and the more shy/insecure I'm feeling the more important it is to me to concentrate on at least having good manners. My brother is a shy teenager who had to be on the news to talk about raising funds for a memorial park for his friend who passed away, and he still answered questions without making people wait for him! I'm sure I would have done the same. Half the contestants on X Factor seem shy or reserved, but to me, Misha stands out as almost self indulgently awkward. It's just my opinion, other people will disagree, but it isn't an opinion that came out of nowhere.

Edit: Thinking a bit more about it, it's the sort of thing my mother drilled into me as a kid, to talk clearly and stand assertively, shake hands firmly, etc. If I stood on TV pursing my lips and staring at the ceiling I'd know I'd come across badly and work on it.

I've interviewed people for both print and radio and even seasoned people can be awkward and they aren't on camera. It is a very surreal thing to do, and have done to you. I yakk all the time anyway so whenever I've been on camera it comes across well. I know people who are very outgoing and clam up when a camera or mic is in their face.

She is very awkward, but she may get better with media training and practice. Also, some of the questions the presenters ask are just stupid.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I don't like Kitty. Nasal singer and irritating character. So... no.

I imagine one of the powers that be has warned her to be very careful in how she talks to the media, and she's taken it to heart a little too much.

I do wish she'd say more and come across a little more warmly, I find myself watching Xtra Factor thinking "I voted for you, can you give me a little more?" but I don't have any right to her! Nobody does.

When she was asked how she responded to Tulisa's criticism and she said "I would say thank you"..." For the constructive criticism" I thought at least that was well thought out and fairly meek, a bit artificial maybe? but I appreciated that better than if she'd have mouthed off and looked brash and up herself.

Double standards how? She is talented, yes, I still don't particularly warm to her or her voice. It's just not my cup of tea, and since I'm not backing her to win or anything I'm also not here criticising Misha because of anything to do with Kitty. What's wrong with that? Kitty just has nothing to do with this thread at all.

Absolutely - in fact I really don't want to hear anymore about the contestants' backstage lives - whether it be alleged bullying, racism, flirtations whatever. Half the threads on this forum are about these incidents and very few about amazing contestants/performances - that speaks volumes about the quality of the show. Maybe time to focus on better themes/songs for all the contestants - or if all else fails bring back the 40 people rejected at bootcamp plus the 4 people rejected in the twist week - and let the public decide if they are better than the shower we have at present

Janet looks stunning in real life, plus Frankie didn't seem to be as full of himself as I thought he'd be. Misha was absolutely lovely, really patient and just seemed very warm. You could tell, however, that Markus really fancied himself and definitely seemed the one least open to pose with fans. He just didn't eminate very much warmth and you could tell people were really wary of approaching him."
Many people find it hard to be interviewed it is not a crime. Why should she act confident in interviews, many people in the public eye do not like being interviewed it is another stupid thing to hold against her.”

See i find this odd becuase all the judges always say about how Marcus is the nicest and most open/chatty contestant, so that kinda goes againt that fan experience. However i'm a bit wary about it cus they state that he's up his own arse and fancies himself but then it seems he didn't actually DO anything to prove that he just "didn't eminate much warmth" and wasn't as open to pose with fans as others. I'm not really sure that means he's up his won arse and fancies himself.

So it's just interesting that the person who is meant to be the nicest apparently has the most negative personality and the one thats supposed to be the most diva-ish and arrogant is apparently the nicest.

I think maybe she has a lot of confidence but I think maybe on the show she feels quite uncomfortable.”

Definitely agree with the BIB.

I think, being accused of being mean by Tulisa and a bully by Louis on a live TV programme watched by millions, may make a person somewhat circumspect and reticent in answering questions.

Yes agree.

If you look at early interviews with many musicians who found fame young and are now world famous, they come across as surly, mono syllabic teenagers.

Again I agree with the observations made here.

Interestingly I've just looked at the DS interview post Judge's house of Misha, Sophie and Janet. Amelia was off somewhere else that day.
What is noticeable is how vocal and bubbly Sophie is, that never came across on the live shows where she was completely sleep inducing. Misha seems quite shy, but more comfortable with the girls there. You get the impression that Sophie and Misha are closer, Sophie tends to look at Misha, throughout the interview, with Janet somewhat sidelined. It is Janet who comes across as the most nervous and awkward. Which is the exact opposite from how they've appeared in interviews post the live shows.
