Firstly, I not very technical, so I apologise if I am being very simplistic.

I got a Samsung Galaxy S2 this week. I have managed to set up my apps, etc. But I am having problems with my emails. I have somehow (not sure how) set my hotmail account up. But I am not receiving any notifications of when I receive new emails (On my old phone, a symbol appeared in the notifications bar each time I got an email). I have to go into the email app now and press refresh to see if I've any new messages. I have checked the settings, and there is a tick in the email notifications box.

Is there anything else I need to change in order to receive these notifications. I am not sure if it maybe to do with the incoming and outgoing settings as I am not convinced I've set these up correctly as it sometimes says when opening emails that connection has been lost.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'd get the Hotmail app from the market and use that instead of faffing about. It does what you want with the minimum of hassle

I may be wrong, but go into settings in the main menu not the email client, accounts, and make sure the account is in there and auto sync selected.

Also make sure your hotmail account is set to push.....
I recommend using the K9Mail app for email instead of the stock app....It picks up all my various accounts.
