Max
I love Katy B, and this, in my opinion, randomly really suited you. Great first performance from you. I must say, I think there are one or too other Katy B songs, I believe would've suited you a bit more than this. But this still did. And apart fromn that, this was a great performance

Max: You know, Max, this was a bit of a risk to take. I know you can pull this off as I've seen you pull of some reasonably similar songs before. I think some people will get it and others won't, but I'm really glad that Dylan and jag got it! I hope you aren't in trouble tonight, because I know that you have a lot of potential!

Mixed reviews for Max there. Back to Carlisle156 and which Over is up next?

Next up from me is the very wonderful Carolynne Poole who will be singing one of my favourite songs! The beat is contagious, be warned, it's 'The Devils Beat' by Sandi Thom!

Carolynne: Carolynne! I'm quite impressed, I must say! I don't know why, but I wasn't really expecting you to deliver anything spectacular this week given the theme, but you've surprised me! Definitely the best of the overs so far.

Carolynne: Carolynne, that was everything I was hoping it would be and then some. It had that great almost-country vibe that suits your voice so well, and I think that you really smashed it out of the park. There isn't much I can say - you sounded and looked like a seasoned pro on that stage, and I think that your voice is easily one of the strongest in the competition, so I expect to see you in for the long haul. Well done!

When I saw Sandi's name, I was like nooo. I love you, but dont like Sandi at all. But this song, I haven't heard before, and I love it, and it is really suited you soo much. This is one of the performances so far, that has literaly made me wanna dance. But I am commenting from a library, so dont think thats the best idea.

Carolynne Poole
I LOVE that song and it suited you perfectly!! You just made yourself the one to beat, Carolynne. The first song tonight that has made me, similarly to Dylan, actually get up and start dancing! It was a great song that suited you well and thank you to Sandi Thom for releasing such an awesome song.

Wow, fantastic comments there Carolynne, you even nearly got Dylan kicked out of his library! Right, over to Jag02010 and the Groups. Singing VV Brown's Chiddy are Miss Frank!

Spoiler
Shar wears this dress, Shenice wears this one, and Graziella is in this. All are wearing black pumps, tube socks (each one with stripes matching the color of the dress), and Graziella has nerd glasses. They all have kid-like hair styles (Graziella has pig tails, Shar has a braid, and Shenice has curled "pageant hair"). All three are sitting on a park bench at the center of the stage. More similarly dressed back-up dancers sit on park benches next to Miss Frank (the set up of the benches looks like half of an arial view of a hexagon), some holding balloons and lollipops. Shar stands up as she sings her verse, all of the girls stand up at the start of the chorus, and the dancers start dancing at the "Walking down Penny Lane" line. Miss Frank sit down on the bench when the ice cream truck sound comes in at the end, while all of the back-up dancers run off stage, as if chasing the ice cream truck.

Lyrics breakdown:

[All]
Buildings come crumbling
Right to the ground
And I can’t help noticing
When I’m looking around
When I’m looking around
Windows can’t see in ‘em
To let me lies
We won’t be taking it
Look ‘em right in the eyes
Look ‘em right in the eyes

[Shar]
Oh, if I had my way
I’d throw everything away
I’d draw it all up again
Keep walking with me
Oh, if I had my way
I’d give everything I have
To make everything okay
Sing it with me

[All]
Darkness falls and kills the light
Don’t surrender, be alright
Fuse blow up like dynamite
And the children keep on singing, singing
Darkness falls and kills the light
Don’t surrender, be alright
Innocence like flying kites
And the children keep on singing, singing

Walking down Penny Lane
Walk, walk of gold
Follow the rainbow
To the end of the road
To the end of the road
Still got me nothing
Nothing but road
They say ‘It’s funny’
I’m not getting the joke
I’m not getting the joke

[Shenice]
Oh, if I had my way
I’d throw everything away
I’d draw it all up again
Keep walking with me
Oh, if I had my way
I’d give everything I have
To make everything okay
Sing it with me

[All]
Darkness falls and kills the light
Don’t surrender, be alright
Fuse blow up like dynamite
And the children keep on singing, singing
Darkness falls and kills the light
Don’t surrender, be alright
Innocence like flying kites
And the children keep on singing, singing

[Graziella]
Grazi, It's us, Miss Frank
I’ll hold you down
Watching the tv, man, kids just want to be famous
And be a big star, rather be known than be nameless
If i had my away, i’d draw it all up again
Can’t take a loss, we must stood up and win
Momma was hurting and she couldn’t spend a penny more
But why nobody have real dreams anymore
Forget the issues and worries this is something about
Supporting optimistic dreams when it’s crumbling down
[Shar + Shenice (while Graziella finishes the rap)]
Sing it with us!

[All]
Darkness falls and kills the light
Don’t surrender, be alright
Fuse blow up like dynamite
And the children keep on singing, singing
Darkness falls and kills the light
Don’t surrender, be alright
Innocence like flying kites
And the children keep on singing, singing
And the children keep on singing, singing (x2)

Miss Frank: Girls, I am so excited that I FINALLY get a chance to mentor you, and you didn't disappoint one bit. That song was perfect for your voice, and I think that, performance and cohesion-wise, you are on top of your game. You really vocally shone this week, and I really loved how you handled the rap, Grazi! You brought such a fun song to the table by one of my favorite singers and gave it a complete make over, which holds onto the original while still showing who you are as a group. I really hope the public relates to the performance as much as I am, because I don't want you to go!

Miss Fitz
I kinda get the same feeling with this, as I did with Lil Mix. Vocally, this was one of my favourite performances soo far. I found it suited all 3 of your voices perfectly. I usually not a fan of raps in these games. But this one worked. But again, the set up, was just a bit ott. The dresses and hair and all, made it seem dated, and cheap kinda. It didn't feel current, kinda recycled kinda feeling I get from the set up. But vocally again, it was great.

I can explain the staging a little bit, if that helps anyone's perception of it?

Basically, I wanted to mirror the lyrics, about how regardless of the problems in the world, one static thing is that children will always live in a realm of innocence and light, as evidenced by the costuming and the backing dancers.

Miss Frank: Ladies, what a performance! Definitely not the kind of song that I was expecting, but it worked! I love this direction and I don't think it's anything you've ever done before? I think you have the potential to go really far in this competition if your mentor keeps you on this road!

Miss Frank
I actually really enjoyed this, girls! Jag definitely has you down to a T when it comes to pickign these songs and I think that if he continues to take you in this direction you have a long way to go in this competition! One of the best so far, girls, well done.

A very deep reason for the staging from Jag there but did they pull it off? The judges liked it anyway! Over to DylanPartyon and Bart's sister Nicole for the Girls!

Next its the amazing Nicole Simpson with Give Me Your Love by Florrie

Nicole: That was the absolute perfect song for your voice. I have to handle it to Dylan, he is really handing his girls well tonight, and you are no exception. That showed the strengths in your voice, and quite honestly, you could be a dark horse in this competition. A lovely performance from you, you should be very proud of yourself tonight! There isn't much else to say, great job, and welcome to what I think will be a very long stay in this competition.

Nicole

That was such a brilliant performance girl. You were my favourite girl of this series, and nearly cried when you got sent home (Not really, but close), but this was absolutly stunning girl. I just loved it sooo much.
Tyjet
03-11-2011
Nicole: Nicole, there's no denying that you're a fantastic vocalist and you're, in my opinion, the most versatile of the girls. I thought that was a fantastic performance, wonderful song choice. Best of the girls so far

Nicole SImpson
This was the best performance from the girls so far, Nicole! That was a genius song choice from good old Florrie and it suited you so well... I can literally just imagine you sitting in your bedroom and covering that song!

So Nicole won't be heading back to Springfield yet if the judges have their way, great comments! We're going back to Tyjet and the Boys now! Who is heading it up now, Tyjet?

Time for my penultimate boy of the evening! Singing an upbeat Hellogoodbye number, it's Marcus Collins!

Marcus
I didn't expect to like that so much Marcus, but I really did, I really did. You have a tendency to sometimes appear as a kinda cheap, kinda too comercial singer. But here, that was no where to be seen. It made me see you, as a potentially big recording star. The standard has been so high tonight, that it didn't stand out as much as I would've liked. But it wasn't bad in any sense of the word
unclekevo
03-11-2011
Marcus: Marcus, I am really surprised that worked as well as it did! I thought on paper that it was going to turn out to be a hot mess, but there was something about the tone of the original that really blended well with your voice. It was spunky, and I think out of all of the RL contestants at the moment that you are one of the most versatile vocalists, and I think that translated very much in your favor tonight. Was it you at your finest? I don't think so. Was it the best of the night? No. But I think that you did an amazingly fantastic job with that vocal and I am really hoping you can stick around longer to show us more of what you are capable of!
Carlisle156
03-11-2011
Marcus Collins
Marcus! I'm a huge fan of you on the show and out of all the contestants, you (and Cher) probably had the easiest time with this theme I think. That was a great song choice from Tyjet and I can totally see you prancing around the stage performing that with your big smile out! Keep smiling, Marcus, because you'll be here next week!
