And then Chris sent a comment to her twitter saying it "wasnt him, he was hacked, he respects her as an artist etc.etc" to which Cher said "artist to artist she respects him, cannot wait to see Obama later"

Again throwing it back that she doesnt like him as a person but more as an artist hahaha! XD love the woman!

The Very Best Of Cher arrived today....very very glittery front cover must say it dazzled me as i opened it ...and its funny seeing all her record labels across the side and back cover too XD over so many years comes so many record deals obviously hehe .

But yes a fantastic collection that indeed brought a smiley to my face

WAWWWWWKIN in Mamphisss!!!!!

Feel like Cher is terribly underrated

or is it just underexposed?

A flesh exposing outfit and merely wearing a thong in 1989 and Cher is UNDERexposed hehe

True though, but tbh i feel it takes The Very Best Of Cher album to show her best work...IMO Cher has never made a great studio album but always released some power pop/power rock anthems although she has so many defining moments and shaped a legacy and sold 120 million records WW. but i do agree Cher hardly gets as frequent mentions as the likes of Tina Turner, Debbie Harry, Diana Ross etc....which is so very strange....but i always preferred CHer to that ole lot anyhow hehe "follow that bitches..." hehe!

Plus Chers albums were very inconsistent...she was kinda like the J Lo (commercialy) of her era(s) where Believe and Turn Back Time were her biggest selling songs by a landslide compared to her other singles (much like On The Floor has been recently for J Lo....just an example) so again another reason.

But damn its a corker of a Double CD

Tempted to make a cheeky invest in the Best of Cher myself! Believe is still an anthem!! Gotta love how Cher was one of the first artists to properly use auto-tune and they originally called it the "Cher" effect. Hehehehehe.

I know what you guys mean about Cher being under-rated! People recall those other divas first before big C herself. (Gotta love a bit of Tina Turner though...Proud Mary live is just the bomb <3.)

Yeah definitely go for it...it was £11 on Amazon however but it was both discs and a shiney booklet and its a great collection of sounds and styles from all periods of her career Like a 4 decade retrospective which is cool

It is funny i was reading about her Farewell Tour...and she got so much flack for being "Britney-Fied" with her peroxide blonde wig, she got flack for wearing her Turn Back Time outfit at 56 - 59 on the three year world tour and most nights she dissed (well a CHer diss is actually considered respect) just about every artist under the sun per night

Just makes ya think what will she do on her Never Can Say goodbye World Tour next year (i am assuming is still on??)

And again with Cher being underrated, Cher is a very confusing artist....i mean it took 30 years until she hit a massive commercial high with both album and single of Believe....she has only had 1 UK number 1 studio album with Love Hurts and 2 number 1s in total with her Hits Compilation. Mainly due to her being in EUrope a lot at that time period. Also none of her studio albums are among high recognition either critically or commercially although Heart of Stone did sell 10 million as did Love Hurts and Believe sold 15 million which is her biggest commercially successful album....Ironically it is her world tours that garnered most acclaim, oh and her single releases (which is where The Very Bes Of Cher succeeds) and her film career too.

But i do have a feeling that now with her celebrating 45 years of music/entertainment career, 66 y.o and ready to release her 24th studio album and first album in 12 years...and world tour, Cher will garner recognition again

Okay i was a bit harsh earlier saying Cher never had a "great album" i meant not a cohesive album nor a really monumental piece of work to be credited to a "powerful, signature" album in such a way.

But anyways i have re-found love with Cher and the Its A Mans World album...which shwoed Cher reworking classic hits by Male artists in such a powerful way...it is an album that reminds me of Chers episode of The X FIles (The Post-Modern Prometheus) where they used songs from the album (Chris Carter heard the record and was inspired to pen a Frankenstein inspired tale tht incorporated Cher into the background of the plot...very clever...worth checking out guys and gals!)

Anyways...check it out..the full album is here and while they arent all original sonvs...Cher has done afabulous job reworking them and giving them a new edge.

You stalking me Josh I was watching x-files season 5 today finally bought the DVD's and came on hear to ask about this episode. Never been a massive fan of Cher never knew much about her to be honest but that was great cover of Walking in Memphis I love Marc Cohn's version but Cher's was great tribute to it, think I'm probably going to at least buy her version from i-tunes.

Off topic but how great was that episode of the x-files I though I'd seen all season 5 but I don't remember it.

Yes i was gasing at you XD

Ah you dont know what yer missin...i mean I am not a "massive" Cher fan but i have always known about her as my parents had a few of her albums and stuff and only just recently myself got The Very Best Of Cher album that reawakened my Cher Fever hehe.

Always loved that song and always presumed it was a Cher song when i was little...love the video to it too

But yes Post-Modern Prometheus is a corker of an episode..i was 5 when it aired on BBC Two and was so scared by it...i think it was because it was B&W and the guy in it was so creepy...been a while since i had seen it but i have the Box set now of all 9 seasons and both films arrived for Christmas so yeah i will catch up on that but yes it is impacted in my consciousness

But yes i adore Walking In Memphis and have such fond memories of the video and the album when i was little too coincidently

My own copy of Its A Mans World, Living Proof and Cher (1987) and The Casablanca Years arrived today

BTW The Casablanca Years is her Disco albums combined on one disc pretty cheeky eh

But has to be said Its A Mans World and Living Proof are now two of my favourite albums...proper melancholic beauty and electronic euphoria (both seperate of course) on two discs and i feel they represent her best work...the Cher(1987) album i feel is her superior "Rock Years" album (Heart Of Stone and Love Hurts dont compare really)

Haha found this UK commercial for the Its A Mans World album...LOVEiT....gonna blast it in a bit...exorcise them demons JOSHYYY!!

Had no idea that the US version was remixed to sound like Madonnas Bedtime Stories, TLC and BoysIIMen with R&B influences/sounds rather than the original Soul/Rock/Rooted original album (and far superior version) just to cater for US audiences -_-....art should not be used to cater to trends...set them...the original 14 song album is so so amazing

anyways the UK trailer (1995 NOT 6)
