It seems a bit odd that they are flying someone from America to take his place. It would have made more sense for Len and Jen to stay in their respective countries.
Why didn't Len skip the US show instead of Strictly ?
I think ABC (Channel that does DWTS) asked BBC if he could miss Strictly as he always missed their show. Hence, ABC had to spend money on a replacement.
He has already skipped DWTS for a week in previous series so perhaps it was felt it was Strictly's turn.

It will be great to have a change, lets hope it becomes permanent, Have I got news for you is much better without Angus Deaton.
