From the first two series, definitely Darren and Jill's jive.

Aled and Lilia always made me laugh. I remember Aled chasse-ing across the floor in training and saying to Lilia 'don't you think it looks a bit camp' to which she yelled 'I don't care what you think'! Darren Gough got the same treatment the following year, he was informed that it was too late to worry what his mates thought now. I do miss Lilia (and Darren), I thought they were great choreographers who really made the most of their partner's ability.
![]() ![]() The Brendan/Natasha scandal that led to his break up with Camilla. Having said that B and N did turn in some lovely performances - though tame compared to more recent series. Lesley Garrett bursting into song at every opportunity - and the first woman of a certain age to fall for Anton's 'olde world charm.' Series 2 and the lovely Aled was such fun. He and Brendan became great mates and I've never forgiven Julian for depriving him of a place in the last 3. ![]() ![]() Darren Gough saying to Lilia "What will my mates think?" and as above Lilia saying "Too late to worry about your mates now." Quentin Wilson - poor, poor Hazel Newberry. The Vord and that face when performing "The dance of Love." ![]() Dermot - he just wasn't a dancer but his fanbase kept him in until week 4. I won't mention Jill's jive but I remember the make up girls saying what a sweetheart she was to work with - offering to do her own make up if they were pushed for time. Esther Rantzen joining the du Beke Appreciation Society. Seeing the macho men worrying about their image - yet by the end of each series demanding more and more sparkle/sequins etc. Happy days - there was an almost innocent air about the earlier series. No simulated sex, no crotch clutching; the dances were not as technically advanced - partly I think because the pros did not know how far they could push their partners in a short time, and partly because the series 1 lasted only 7 weeks and series 2 only 8. |

I know that I'm in the minority, but I actually prefered Denise to Jill in series two, and Julian was a hoot
