Rather unlike Anton - if it's true that he said that, it is a bit rude (but accurate and probably funny at the time!)

Dontcha just love the Daily Mail? They describe Anton's comment about Nancy as "foul-mouthed" when all he said was that her dancing was "sh*t". Now if he'd used the f or c words, that would have been foul-mouthed.

But hey, you know the Daily Mail - never lets the truth get in the way of a good story.

He was honest and I don't blame him. She is a laughing stock. I have seen clips from the Graham Norton Show and the Andrew Neil Politics Show and she is an object of total ridicule. She has brought it on herself, silly mare. I have no sympathy, apart from for Anton. Poor bloke. First old Biddycrumb and then Dell' Usional.

Not a fan of Nancy but this year I totally went off Anton..I felt he was very mocking of her and complicit with the audience in making her look more of a fool than she really is. I honestly don't think he bothered with her at all.

Completely agree. I think some of the dancers, ie anton, are getting a bit above themselves.

To be fair, it's clear that Nancy didn't bother trying to learn the dance either.

Amazingly, she was doing worse than Widdecombe, something I never thought I'd see.

Everything about the pretentious Tony Beke is phony, including his name.

I am no fan of Anton, who has 'can't be arsed' practically tattooed on his forehead, but this is the Daily Fail getting its outraged knickers in a twist about Anton saying nothing that he hadn't already said on Strictly and ITT, and which we all know - Nancy is a sh1t dancer.

As ever, the things people say, when transferred to print, are bereft of the tone of voice and facial expressions that accompany the words. I have no doubt that Anton said this with his tongue firmly in his cheek and enjoyed the laughter that would have followed.

Oh, and look out for the follow-up story tomorrow - 'Nancy might sue Anton.' Gotta give that woman's publicists their due - they're doing a cracking job.

Nancy is a very shrewd business woman , this whole exposure to the press and her silly persona and her pretending to be inarticulate ( she said it not me ) is all gearing up to a book launch and extra sales .

I went off him as well.

Anyone else notice when Nancy and Anton got to do their "last dance" bit that it was a quite a long time before the other slebs and pro's came and joined them on the dance floor?

When popular couples leave all the others come and give them a group hug much quicker.

How is it 'clear' ? from 30 seconds of VT pruned from several hours over a week ? I am not a fan of Nancy but neither am I a 'hater' she wasnt any good as a dancer but how do we know thats because she 'didnt bother trying' How do we know it wasnt because Anton didnt bother trying.

Personally I think they were perfect for each other it was a clash of the huge egos.

Anyone who changes their name for instance a Miss Jones marries a Mr. Patterson and for work reasons she becomes a Mrs. Patterson Jones or someone shortens there name from Michael to Mike or Elizabeth to Lizzy does that quote as pretentious in your book?
And what about people in Showbuisness or the theatre or films who have to change their name because Equity already has the name listed, pretentious?

Read my message again, carefully. I said that HE was pretentious, and added that he was as phony as his name.

He's always done it. He's always slagged his partners off the minute they're out the door and he's onto the next one. It's part of his schtick. With Kate he was saying it whilst still partnered with her. Most of them don't seem to mind.

I agree.

He and the Daily Fail make a good match.

It is a wonder "Anton" can dance at all considering his feet are always in his mouth.

I did actually and I did wonder about that. I've got stuff like that wrong before though.

He's been rude and self absorbed for the past three series.

Agree - and to your last paragraph.

I have copied this bit from the report - Anton haters, digest.

Anton's tongue-in-cheek comments got a huge laugh from the audience and a source said that Anton was 'hilarious'.
The dancer himself later explained away the comments as a gag.

He told the MailOnline: 'It was just a gag to get a laugh from the audience. Nancy was just as lovely as Ann. The truth is, she was getting better and I think she was hard done by, by the judges.'

When asked if he thought the judges were overly cruel to the Italian-American property lawyer Du Beke quipped: 'Yes, I think the judges were cruel... I think the producers were cruel giving her to me in the first place.'

and to the bit in bold.

LOL Now you really ARE imagining things here. All I noticed was that they didn't actually dance, Anton picked her up and swung her around. He probably did that to disguise the fact that without a week of rehearsal, she wouldn't be able to manage even a few steps.

From watching her not dance. She pays no attention to the lead. Even in ballroom hold, she looked rubbish. Anton clearly was focussed on leading her, she was not clearly focussed on following.

I strongly suspect she doesn't even understand the concept of lead-and-follow. She certainly didn't exhibit it.

I'm extrapolating based on her comments and her lack of attention during the dance. And the fact that Anton, rubbish though he may be, is an experienced hand at teaching celebs and has an interest in helping them stay in.

look. the 'rules' are for little people.

they don't apply to nancy.

she doesn't care what little people think about her.

especially not emotional midgets like anton.

There is another article in the Mail today with Nancy, she does come across as a bit delusional, bless her! I'm wondering if it's an act because I find it hard to believe that someone could have such a different opinion of themselves than everyone else. In that article, she's still rattling on about taking legal action on Bruno and now Alesha.

Anton seems well aware that the producers of the programme don't give him the best dancers (or haven't for a few years) although he's not the only one by any means.

Thinking about the pay structure a good celebrity will be harder work as they are in for the long haul. So knowing you are getting a poor celebrity may be quite a relief.
