Am I imagining it or is Robbie "Grab your crotch" Savage a friend of Robbie Williams? Not sure cause I don't think he's mentioned it much

I remember why I left this board alone for two years.

The absolute negativity and the relentless slagging off of every aspect of the show and over analysis of every single syllable uttered by everyone.

For god sake can't some people just be happy with the show?

Love it too (see 'Austenfan')- I'm 'old' on here but now often consider leaving. I enjoy wit and humour when I find it on here, but it's alarming how quickly EVERYTHING becomes snide, negative and just bl**dy unpleasant - you almost feel yourself becoming a worse person as you 'indulge'. Like getting in with the cool but nasty crowd at school and just hanging on around them for fear of missing something Nothing to miss atm apart from relentless slagging off. As we all sit on our fat a*ses on sofas or wherever, with laptops on knees, scoffing at folk who are actually DOING something (ok, that's just me then) ....

Oh, and just to go on a trendily negative note - I can't bear misspelt Thread Titles. They offend me everytime I look at the page.

So agree with this. I really don't know why some people watch it, it seems to bring them nothing but misery. Earlier on some posters felt it was fixed that the guests on ITT were rooting for Jason. It was all a plot by the BBC apparently. Unbelievable.

Why should it matter that he mentions it? Mcfly are always shown several times and mentioned when they are in the audience for Harry as is Bryan May!!

HEAR HEAR QuizMike and Slinky!

oh how I agree with you!

I write a blog every week and have done since the beginning - but from last year, I hesitate to put it on here because of some of the more "blind" fans who won't hear anything constructively negative about their "person" and have a really vitriolic "go" and sit there bitching in their little threads - well we can see you! And it's called freedom of speech and respecting each other's opinion even if it's not your own.

In TCA, I would always say if I didn't like some of Matt's choreo or whatever so I think you always have to be fair, despite supporting someone. If someone dislikes someone I really like, that's surely up to them and their own opinion - and I wouldn't sit there bitching about them because they hated what I liked. You can do it without the snideness and the bitching!

I like to say what I think about the show, but would prefer to be able to do it in here like we used to, without having to worry about the "commitment" you enter into now, having made a comment about something or someone to do with the dancing.

I don't come in much either, for the same reasons as both of you, but it's such a bloody shame because in amongst all the fecking idiots, there are a lot of really lovely people whose opinions I respect, and whose wit I admire.

Shame, eh.

Wow, firstly please allow me to apologise to those RobBie Savage fans that I have insulted or offended with my wisecrack about his name dropping. I am new here and it has never been my intention to insult or offend an other forum member personally so if I have I apologise. I do however feel that some responses/contributors to my post are being somewhat disingenuous and hypocritical - perhaps I should have voiced my opinions in the "this is not an appreciation thread" where it is perfectly acceptable to call Lulu and Nanyc lazy, spoilt cows or Edwina "horrible and old" and yet the writer of these words is offended by a spelling error on my part Anyhoooo, I have learned my lesson, I will not ever start a thread again, seems I'm rubbish at it,my attempts at humour have fallen well off the mark. I will also endeavour to be up beat and postitive about the show and the dancers, because despite it all, I love Strictly!

Scarlett - I'm rushing in to apologise to you I just realised, a while after posting, that I was actually responding more to QM's post (and agreeing that sometimes the over-archingly critical and negative tone of the forum can become quite mean and depressing) rather than responding to your original post re Robbie and his name-dropping. On that subject, you are absolutely spot on !

Can't remember which one, but I was actually reading one of your posts on another thread and was grinning cos it was funny, and was also nodding in agreement This is a great place when it's funny and informative and 'sharey' - it's just that snidery (think I've just made that word up ) and mockery can get out of hand sometimes, and drags us all down a bit and brings out the worst in us rather than the best - the 'best' of me ain't that great, so the 'worst' of me is not a lovely thing and I've even found myself posting awful things about hapless celebs who, when all said and done, actually haven't done me any personal harm (hmmm, maybe Lulu ....)

So, I really do apologise to you. I also know that spelling errors are often just typos anyway, so I was being a mean old bag by my comment re the thread title - I was being tainted by the 'negativity'! What a feeble excuse

Anyhoo, here's to the joys of Strictly (and all the other bits) - and may tonight's show be a good one

*Old Skool waves to QM and TQ *
