Kind of off topic but, sometimes whenI look at Chelsee and Pasha I often think how well Tina O'Brien could have done if she had someone like Pasha and not that little American chap who was way out of his depth. I know Tina was nowhere near as talented as Chelsee but I still think Pasha could have made something out of her. Loving them and think they'll make it to the final

i like chelsee and i think she has the potential to do very well.

i've thought that from the beginning.

however, she is not a swan yet.

unless she is able to muster the concentration necessary to not just learn the steps but to work on the finishing touches that distinguish a good dance from a great one, she won't get as far as she could.

i'm not personally sure how seriously she takes it, nor am i convinced she gives due attention and respect to pasha's skills.

the naughty adhd school girl is not the aspect of chelsee that endears me, nor will it get her through this competition.

Very true. Jared's choreography was a bit 'will this do?' and it definitely wasn't memorable enough to keep Tina in the show for long.
Pasha seems to recognise Chelsee's potential and is pushing her with ambitious choreography. It's probably why they're the only couple I look forward to specifically every saturday.

Well, I think the general consensus is that it is not lack of concentration that is Chelsee's problem, but the lack of training hours. Her schedule for Waterloo Road means she can manage what is probably the fewest number of training hours of all the celebs (with the exception of Audley, I should think).

And don't forget that the Strictly editors determine the story line when they make those VTs, so the 'naughty ADHD schoolgirl' is probably an exaggeration. If she texts her friends and family a lot, it will be because she can't do that when she's filming - Pasha acknowledged that on one episode of ITT, as I recall.

To my mind, it's all part of the 'ladette to lady' story arc that they've constructed for Chelsee - I'll let the dancing do the talking.

that just sounds like a different 'storyboard' peeve.

plucky actress who never has a single second of down time on set therefore has no alternative but to conduct her entire social life in the training room.

however, i agree that the dancing will do the talking, and thats fine by me.

Had no idea who Chelsee was when she appeared on the launch show – and wasn’t expecting to warm to her at all. Didn’t help that War Drobe had decked her out in Vicky Pollard cast-offs but guess everything takes second place to the Strictly storyboard.

Just shows how wrong first impressions can be though. Such a talented girl and the pairing with Pasha works so well – he really seems to know how to get the best out of her. Lovely to see a relationship that’s so natural and unforced – they’re winning the competition off the dance floor too.

Think I've finally decided who I'm rooting for.

As an experienced dance competitor would you consider Harry a "natural"? I don't think he is but his fans seem to think so.

At the risk of spoiling the Chelsee love in - she is IMO not the full package - yes she's a good dancer but IMO she's not an amazing dancer yet. I have watched some of her dances more than once but I think that's more to see Pasha again so she is doing his teaching and choreography justice and will be interested to see if she improves with more training time.

While she's not half as irritating as I thought she would be from the launch show - I'm still not as bowled over by her personality as some on here - I don't find her endearing at all - I find her quite childish TBH but accept she's harmless and probably good at heart. Still think it's a shame she ruined her looks through OTT cosmetic surgery.

I do really like Pasha - and yes it's a pity he wasn't hired last year - would have loved to seen him with Tina O'Brien and whether she would have blossomed under a better pro.

I was discussing Chelsee over lunch today with my family and I wondered how southerners (or anyone who isn't northern basically) are taking to Chelsee ? I know this sounds like a silly question but her very northern accent might just grate on some and could turn them off which is nothing to do with how she dances. ITT are making a big thing out of her accent and her expressions. I'm seeing this in the same' way as those who have turned against Jason as he comes across as a bit boring (not a view I share) in interviews even though he dances well. What do you think ?

It doesn't bother me, but regional accents are entirely a matter of perspective, so it might bother others. Wasn't there a little Australian girl who met the Queen last week and said, 'The Queen is very kind, but she has got a bit of an accent.'?

Edit: should have added that I am a bona fide Southerner, who has occasionally ventured north of Watford, but only with the help of months of forward planning and a couple of sherpas.

My first ever post eeek.
I too didn't think I would 'take' to Chelsee when I saw her in the first show. The costume ( think wardrobe are seriously letting this girl down) she wore did her no favours and I don't watch Waterloo Road so was unsure who she was.
However, I find myself warming to her, she has enthusiasm, humour and talent. Oh and of course ...Pasha.
As a born and bred 'Southerner' I can say I like her. Her total lack of awareness of just how good she is makes me smile.

If only Chelsee had more time to train - can you imagine how much more she'd improve, then ?

He's a great addition to the show, unlike the American lad last year who was such a non-entity that I could never remember his name.
I do hope Chelsee does well in the competition as she comes across as a very uncomplicated Lancashire lass.”

Seeing Pasha working with Chelsee, building on her strengths and improving her weaknesses I too have wondered just how far Tina could have gone if she'd been partnered with him last year.

imo she was improving considerably before she was voted off.

Chelsee doesn't need the sympathy vote - on the contrary I'm convinced that her talent will take her a long way in this competition (I agree with those who see her as a possible winner,) unlike your favourite last year Terry, the odious Widdecombe who stayed in only by virtue of cheap gimmicks, preplanned 'quips' and the hopes of viewers that she would make an even bigger fool of herself week on week. I'd have thought such expectations callous, were it not for the fact that she deserved all the derision she got.

She was as delutionsal as Nancy - thinking she and Anton were returned each week because "the whole world" was waiting to see what they did next. A comment she made on ITT.

As a matter of interest Terry, how did Chelsee and Pasha manage to top the leaderboard the previous week unless by their performance? Do you think they quick stepped their way to success by employing questionable tactics in week 4?

I don't think accent has anything to do with preferences;
Jill Halfpenny (Geordie) and Denise Lewis (West Bromwich) 1st and 2nd series 2.
Darren Gough's Yorkshire accent did him no harm when beating the softly spoken Colin Jackson - lilting Welsh accent an' all.
Alesha Dixon's strange articulation didn't stop her winning series 5 and I don't think it was Ricky Whittle's northern tongue that was responsible for his defeat at the hands of Chris Hollins though I'm still not sure what was.
Last years winner Kara Tointon and runner up Matt Baker both speak with strong regional accents but viewers judged them on talent not pronunciation.

Judging by the posters supporting Chelsee I suggest her fan base speak with as many accents as that of any other celeb.

i absolutely adore chelsee and pasha, they have so much chemistry (easily the most this year) and pasha teaches chelsee so well. pasha's quite a cutie too!!

I'm from the North - not Chelsee's North - and I haven't seen any major "big thing" made out of her accent, can you give examples? Seriously, I can only think of a couple of times when Zoe commented on slang or regional terms Chelsee used as a point of humour between her and Pasha - so you could see this as making a 'big thing' of Pasha being a non-Brit. Is this what you mean?

I hope she'll not be kicked out of the competition (shock exit) before she got her well-deserved break from filming WR!!!

Swan?? No, not yet. Perhaps a largish duck - or one of the geese now featuring in Autumnwatch.

She IS improving!

Actually, I think her partnership with Pasha has brought out the best in her.

She reminds me somewhat of Louise Lytton.

Interesting you think Chelsee’s regional roots might be an issue – hadn’t occurred to me. I’m a born and bred Sarf Londoner, my partner’s a north westerner and I’ve never really noticed his accent. And I’m guessing that viewing figures for northern soaps – Corrie/Emmerdale – must be pretty respectable ‘south of the border’ – wherever that border is. So no, don’t think Chelsee will lose any support because of how she speaks – think we’re all pretty well attuned to different accents and cadences of speech nowadays.

Or maybe I’m just not noticing anything else at all when Pasha’s on the screen!

Hello Coastal Crusty – hope you’re glad to took the leap into DS world.

There was a whole section on this the other week on ITT where they more or less translated stuff that Chelsee says - "you're a good'un" , "don't be daft" etc. It was quite cute and it made me laugh but there seems to be an emphasis on her accent. There was another clip last week when Chelsee asked Pasha to change his pants and she said "I don't like them pants, I prefer you in jeans, they make you look more manly" and much was made about her pronunciation of manly. Maybe it's me and I'm noticing it too much perhaps but these are the examples I can find.
