Where does it say EE will be axed? That's not how I read it.

"It won’t be launched with a view to immediately replace EastEnders, but if it’s a success who knows what will happen?"

if you believe EE will get better you believe anything.
And since any new soap would be better than EE, it will be axed.

I never watch EE so I have no idea if it is good or bad. I do know how to interpret English, though and there is nothing definite about EE being axed in that news item.

Once again the Daily Star are showing a huge bias against Eastenders in their reporting. They have actually grabbed hold of an article which was featured in the Daily Mail this week suggesting that the new Director General of the BBC might want to cut out on one of the episodes of Eastenders to prove to the goverment and critics of the Beeb that they can be seen to be more high-brow and less ratings driven in order to get the Goverrnment to let the BBC keep the license fee in operation when the BBCs charter runs out in 2006.

The Daily Star have used this article and put their own spin on the story as it suits their needs in their vendetta against the programme.

Without even reading the article I can tell you that EastEnders is not going to be Axed! If it loses an episode a week that is fine but that doesn't mean its Axed! Its only Axed! if its given an Sunday afternoon timeslot with three epis all in one and isnt' shown during the week anymore.

Msf, this new Northern Soap is a bit of a way off yet mate, I reckon EastEnders will be back on its feet or at least getting there by the time its launched.

I heard on my local radio station this morning that they "might" be reducing it down to two episodes per week in an attempt to improve the quality. I hope this doesn't turn out to be true

Why not? Wouldn't you rather have (the chance of) more quality over quantity?

Well, personally speaking, I don't actually feel that EE is as bad at the moment as people are making it out to be. I'm still enjoying it.

I doubt very much it gets any better than it is now. This habit of trading one producer for another is very harmful for TV. There's too little new blood coming in and the bad eggs always find new top jobs.
The thing is the format of EE is very old and outdated, that might have worked 15 years ago when there was only 4 channels and no internet but nowadays people expect much more than that.
EE only has a chance if they completely revamp the show and change the cast which they're not bold enough and creative enough to do.

are you for real?

East end of london does look like that and what about Corrie you don't have streets with the cobbles like that any more if any soap needs a revamp it is corrie which is still stuck in the 70's.

What has that got to do with a thread about EastEnders being axed? Also, you could try a little punctuation from time to time - it makes your posts easier to understand.

I presume by "sick" you meant "stuck"?

How old are you?

This is starting to get abit boring sorry to upset you msf but EE will not be axed and it is going no where the BBC get to much money for it.

The BBC don't get paid for it, they get viewers. To try to justify the licence fee. And they say they're not all about ratings these days! Yeah, pull the other one...
