Personally I can't see how talking in broken English is a shrewd move. If she can speak English properly then why doesn't she? Surely she must realise that she sounds quite barking... especially if she's as intelligent as she would have us believe! My daughter calls her Nancy Doollalio and I think this is an apt name for her.

No , i dont get that either at all .But by her own admissiion its " part of the fun me " apparently
Persoanally I think it makes her sound stupid and inarticulate . I would love to know if she is any more articulate in Italian .

Her mind is obviously as stable as her dancing.

The whole "I know I'm inarticulate but I think it's funny" thing doesn't make sense. She has read or heard about her inarticulacy loads of times and this is no more than a cover up. Her friends (if she genuinely has any) aren't exactly going to say "yes she's inarticulate but we love her"

Her speaking style is very consistent, and very similar to a couple of Italians I know around her age or older. It was only from the early 70s that English was taught as a 2nd language in Italian schools, so many older Italians (especially those from the south) have to learn English as a 3rd language when they arrive here/the US. She only came here with Sven when he got the English manager job; before them she was quite content living in Rome and having little use for English (Sven speaks Italian)

So? She left America when she was five, way too early to permanently imprint a language. Her mother has an American passport but is Italian. English was probably never spoken in their household after they moved to Italy.

I am no fan of Nancy but did think Alesha was rude to her. It was quite embarassing and it wasnt really necessary to make personal comments.

Am I a bit behind or has this one been spotted too?

'Strictly Come Dancing' Nancy Dell'Olio: 'I was one of the best'

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s104/...-the-best.html

Nancy Dell'Olio has described her Strictly Come Dancing elimination as a "big mistake", due to her being "one of the best dancers" in the competition.

OMG - I don't belieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve it!

Nancy is turning into the Victor Meldrew of SCD.

I bet the BBC are regretting contracting her onto the show.

I love Nancy Dell'Olio!!!

That woman is priceless. I wish I had a fraction of her self confidence.

I actually think its fairly obvious that Alesha has had it in for her from the start and/or had some serious issue with her.

Alesha will be back though. They made such a big thing over keeping her after Arlene-gate that theyre not going to get rid of her. I love love love her, but the way she scores in this show is a joke so she kinda does need to go.

So far I didn't mind the Italian siren, but now that she's gunning for lovely Alesha I hope the British goverment will put her on a plane back to Italy asap. I'm Nancy, Fly me.

It may be a joke - but many a true word is spoken in jest!

I don't believe that's true; most children of 5 are perfectly capable of retaining their mother tongue.

And you know this because...?

Where did you get "probably" from? It's just a guess, isn't it?

Children of 5 now-a-days are very likely to retain their native languages especially if it is english, as english is a LOT more global and use a lot mroe than it was even then, in media, classrooms, internet and is a lot more accessible these days, as are many other languages which children can keep up. When Nancy went to Italy it was probably never spoken so she would have forgotten a whole lot of it. Having many foreign friends who english is a second or third language for, I commend Nancy on her english. Her sentence structure and though pattern is very similar to most I know.

At five a childs language is well and truely formed and learned ,after that they learn the finer aspects only .In fact by age 5 a child is fully capable of knowing 2 or more languages and being able to swap from one to the other .I personally can vouch for that fact .
Nancy does not just speak english badly she has a very lazy speech pattern , she neither finishes words or sentances and that is not due to her language difficulty .She puts no effort at all into making herself understood

Alesha Dixon should never have been put on the panel of judges IMO .. she hasn't a clue and for once I agree with Nancy. She is a very deluded person and has skin like a rhino!

It was a technical critique. Not a personal one.

I realise that this is an alien concept to Nancy, but that's the way it is.

Ah, at last, someone who understands. Even loving the gorgeous Alesha as I do, I do think she was a wee bit hard on Nancy D and at times it did seem like there was something personal about her attitude to Nancy. She and others were treating the woman like a joke and it wasnt funny. She's a stronger woman than I not to have broken down. Not only that but I am also of the opinion that poor old nance was being set up to fail by the idiot who was partnering her.

Nancy is most certainly delusional and I agree she must have skin like a rhino.

Nothing at all wrong with Alesha as judge. I think in general she's doing a fantastic job.

Who are we talking of here - Nancy or Alesha?

I say they should replace Alesha with Nancy even just for a few weeks.

That would be hilarious and I wonder just how Nancy would score everyone whilst comparing them to her fabulous self.
