Memo to Aliona - if you want to do "innovative" work with your partner, then "do an Artem" and make it work.”

You are obviously biased towards either Artem or Holly, or both. That was NOT a good jive. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anywhere near marvellous. Perhaps without Artem's injury we might see more ACTUAL jive steps, but as it were the number on the night wasn't really that good. Music choice was inspired, but nothing else excites.

I had slightly gone off Holly and Artem last week , but I loved the jive .I dont think it quite fair to say what excites other people .I have no dance knowledge so only see what I see and I loved it .

Kudos to Artem for originaly choreography that stays within the rules and within the persona of the dance (unlike Aliona's random content).”

Brilliant post .. Nice to see someone who knows what they are talking about! And considering the last minute changes made to the routine due to Artem's back injury it was bloody amazing! Best dance of the night for me.

I liked it and thought it was one of Holly's best dances.

And does Julianne pinch Len's bottom at the end??

I agree. I actually thought that Artem and Holly's jive was one of the more boring dances of the night.

Well that's telling all of us who liked it.

My feelings exactly. Jive is one dance that I love, but most SCD versions leave me cold as they (and the judges!) concentrate more on 'kicksandflicks' to the exclusion of other moves. It's been reported that Holly and Artem had to change it at the last minute because of Artem's knee problem - without that I reckon we could have seen the best pro-celeb jive in SCD history!

I liked the concept but felt Holly wearing those shoes took away a lot of her bounce.

This is the first week I've been at all impressed by Holly. Craig was right about her being too laid back in previous weeks.

Holly did mention that they had to change the routine a bit after Artem's injury in the afternoon. I still enjoyed the routine and thought Holly did really well, but didn't like the outfit.

You could see the pain in Artem's face at the end of the dance and he did so well to get out there and get on with the show. Hope he recovers soon...

I really got into that Jive, I thought Artem did a great job in giving the dance an ebb and flow. I think Jives that use too many kicks and flicks come across as manic and messy, especially in SCD, when the celeb may not always be able to keep up. Although Holly did lose a lot of technique towards the end, I'm guessing through fatigue more than anything.

Still the best dance of the night.

I really liked the concept. The choreography, the music. Personally I didn't think Holly danced it very well. It seemed to lack the energy I would expect from a Jive. I don't know I just felt given to another partner Artem's jive would have been electric.
I really felt for him with his bad leg. I didn't even realise until he started limping up the stairs. Hope he's ok for next week.

Clever choreography by Artem...he knows his partner has legs as floppy as cooked macaroni and as much bounce as a busted trampoline...put her in trousers too...job done

Lulu's too for that matter

Trousers in a ballroom/latin dance show do not work. It looks wrong”

What week did Artem have the injury card last year?
I know it was their American Smooth (must look it up )

If Artem is sustaining injuries so often (when other pros don't) is it because:
a) He is including choreography unsuitable for a pro never mind a celeb
OR
b) Not as fit as he looks?
OR
c) Using his trump card for a routine that might not go down well with the celeb (In Holly's case but not Kara)

I loved it. Best dance of the night for me. It was cool and edgy and fun. Just like Holly herself. I agree she isn't the best dancer but she was miles ahead of the likes of Robbie and Harry last night.

"So Holly, how was it for you?"
*babble babble, self-absorbed babble, absolutely nothing for or about her partner who looked like a Japanese POW beaten with a rifle butt*

Anyway I didn't get to see anybody's legs and I feel totally deprived.
thanks for nothing

Isn't it weird that they didn't mention his injury in the VT? Last year with Kara they made such a big deal out of Artem's injury during their AS.

He did it after the VT was recorded. We'll never hear the end of it next week though!

By the looks of it I think that VT was recorded a couple of months ago... it was so rehearsed and fake!

I have no doubt if they wanted to they could've included it in the VT. It apparently happened before the dress rehearsal. Artem's injury last year happened during the dress rehearsal, so they obviously have enough time between dress rehearsal and the show to add details of his injury.

Considering what a big fuss is being made of all the wardrobe malfunctions, I'm surprised his injury was swept under the rug like this.

Once again, Artem went 'different' on the choreography and unlike last week, I really got it this week. I LOVED the choreography, the concept, the outfits, the music ... it's just that I think Holly was overwhelmed by it. There were parts where she was great - the side by side sections - but in hold, when they were doing the actual traditional jive steps, she was heavy, slightly laboured and lacking oomph, for lack of a better term. But, along with Chelsea, the best dance of the night. Definitely the best concept of the night. Artem's brain is amazing.

I've watched the jive a couple of times now and the more I see it the more impressed I am. Also the first time that Artem made me feel a little hot under the collar. Too bad he was injured, I would have loved to see him go at it full throttle.

I think it might be because he's over-muscly, when you're as fit and as built as him, you're muscles are quite prone to breaking down. That's why athletes break down so often, they're muscles are so primed that they're always this side of a bad injury (remember Jade thingy the long jumper?)

I also don't think he knows how to do anything but go full pelt, he can't do a 75% routine. Robin is quite muscly but has a far more laid back attitude and so doesn't maybe go at it hammer and tongues like Artem does.
