I enjoyed the jive - a lot. Would have been better if Artem had been fully on fire and not injured - he would have kicked Holly more into touch.

The costumes etc - I think the costume dept chose the wrong material, so jackets not closely fitting and that stupid brace should bave been sewn into position - especially if there was going to be a cartwheel.

Simply cannot understand why dance cognoscenti keep harking back to Jill's jive: it was executed perfectly but was definitely not exciting as a jive, but just a cleverly choreographed ballroom routine. The DWTS jive would have looked incredibly clumpy if you had put it in the same show as Darren & Jill's jive.

You can't have it both ways - either a boring true ballroom jive or an exciting showdance version. Holly did very well, but throughout this series her top half has consistently been better than her bottom half, and without Artem to train her in person over the last 2 days, I'm amazed she completed the routine at all.

So I'll turn my back on all the carpers and nay-sayers and just say that I really liked **that jive***

Really? Watch this master of Jive and tell me you find it boring. And it's chuck full of "boring true ballroom jive". In face they don't do anything but jive.

Really? I thought it was an AT until the 'kicksnflicks' came in!
2/10. Hardly any proper jive content, Len would have loved it!

Ref the Youtube clip - intro was far too long - I moved the pointer along to find the fast jive music then watched 5 seconds of it.

The music is swing, predating what I consider to be danceable jive music.

Didn't like it.

I thought that music was familiar - here's Artem and Elena Grinenko doing a jive to the same music at a DWTS gala a while back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBp9Z1V7AGM

Well I enjoyed it, but I agree, not your typical Jive. I think it's not specifically correct to rule it out as a jive, as in the modern world bits of the West Coast Swing etc will make their way in.

What I will say however, is that is Artem just allergic to the Jive. Last year with Kara he did pretty much the same thing, which, if I remember correctly, was down to a neck injury sustained during their American Smooth...

This year with Holly, a more Swing styled Jive after a back injury sustained following their American Smooth.

Tip to Artem next year, if you happen to get injured during your 3rd attempt at an American Smooth, just refuse to do a Jive straight afterwards...

I guess that we will have to "agree to disagree" on 'that jive'; just like on SCDs treatment of most of the dances.
I like traditional ballroom and latin to traditional music, same with the jive. What I call jive, SCD calls rock'n'roll. Each of has the right to our own opinions and it would be boring as hell if we didn't!
Used to ride my 'bike 50 miles to a club on Friday and Saturday nights, dance for 2-3 hours then ride home again and most of the celebs on the show are out of breath after 90 seconds! Couldn't do it now I'll admit...........

I watched the first minute and a half and wondered where the "chuck full of boring true ballroom jive" was. It was really really boring for me. If you hadn't told me that was a jive I would have sat there for ages trying to work out what it was. Was it a tango? Was it a weird AS, I never would have guessed that was a jive for the 90 seconds I watched.

But hey, that's what I love about DS everyone has such differing opinions.

Have to say, I loved the Artem/Elena jive, it was so full of personality and joy.

You have to admit that Artem is totally rubbish at dancing.

Oops sorry, wrong thread.

But I gleefully admit I know NOTHING about professional jiving steps - just saw an awful lot of it on TV before dear Craig was born.
But then, I know nuffink.

Hmmm - when it comes to the battle of jives with Bryan, I'm gonna say he was better with Karen
