I'll retract those words if you like. But I don't actually hide my sexuality and everyone knows I'm gay and what I meant by soving my sexuality down people's throats was that no one of any sexuality should be shoving their sexuality down people's throats or promoting any personal politics when just singing a song. That goes for straight people (usually young males) at karaoke singing a song about how wonderful they are sexually. It's all just silly and a bit pathetic. "Hey girl I'm gonna sex you up" type songs.

I have also sung a gay song and kept those words as written as well. But again that wasn't me promoting the gay issue, just me singing a song with the lyrics that were written for it.

Generally I like songs that don't mention a 'him' or 'her' then everyone can feel free to sing along to them and more people enjoy them.

It's an ironic idiom to use, "shoving sexuality down people's throats", because the whole point of this thread is that someone else's sexuality is being made to come out of Marcus' throat. It seems he has to regurgitate nothing but straightness to stand any chance of winning.

It isn't about a female love interest in his version, they took out the verses where it was anything but admiration for a woman, which gay men can have. Whether they should have done that or not is debatable indeed. Frankly I don't find it an issue whether people sing male or female, it depends on the interpretation and the singer's choice.

Most songs are just songs and not actually real life experiences of the singer.

Missing verses:

Ohhhhh (instrumental) Well, she's like honey from a bees

And like bees from a tree,I love her, need her,

She's alright, she's got what it takes

She's got what it takes and to me she really rates
Well, Oh now she's my cutey,my tuttu fruitt,
my heart, my love,my bathin' beauty she's alright, she's
got just what it takes, she's got what it takes and to
me she a- really rates

I realise that people sing about all sorts of experiences they haven't personally experienced, and that it's important to appeal to a broad audience, but I hope we do get to the point where gay people can sing about the same gender without people making a hoo-ha about it. I think it would probably give the performer an opportunity to connect more directly with the song. It's no different to asking a straight man to sing about men every week, it would be a pretty inappropriate request.
