I still think they design more for a fashion show than for ballroom dancing. I have watched more competitions, local and national, than I can count, and taken part in a few myself, and I have never heard of competition dresses coming apart on the floor. They should pay a bit less attention to style and appearance and a bit more to the mechanics. And if they are under such pressure, that only means that there are not enough of them for the work to be done. If they got a couple of specialist ballroom designers to help, that would solve both problems!
